NEC Announces LifeTouch Tablet

The tablet craze is still going strong. NEC just announced that they are developing a new 7-inch tablet running on Android. The NEC LifeTouch, as it has been labeled, will be running the 2.1 version of Google’s OS and is powered by an ARM Cortex A8 CPU. The LifeTouch will have 256 megabytes of RAM, Bluetooth 2.1, access to GPS, a 3 mega pixel webcam and an SDHC card slot. The screen will have an accelerometer so that you can play tilt games on it. The battery will supposedly give the tablet over 8 hours of runtime. Release has been set for October but no price has been set yet.

This is an interesting little product and I hope NEC delivers – though I think it would be great if they upgraded the OS to 2.2.
