Netbook with Splashtop to Have Quick Search Function

If you are one of those brave souls who installed Splashtop on your netbooks, well Device VM, the makers of Splashtop will be giving you a gift sometime in September. And this happens to be a quick search bar right on your Splashtop instant-on desktop.

For those in the U.S. and Japan that search engine happens to be Yahoo! Search. We don’t really know for what reason Yahoo! Search was choosen by Device VM. But anyway, for those in China, the quick search engine would be Baidu, which happens to be the no.1 search engine in the country. While for those in Russia it will be Yandex.

Current partners of Splashtop are Asus, HP, Lenovo, Sony, Acer and LG. All these manufacturers have agreed to embed the Splashtop in computers’ BIOS.

This enables users of Splashtop-enabled netbooks to have instant access to a dashboard of predetermined local and web-based apps. These apps include Skype Mozilla Browser, online photo services as well as online music streaming sites.

Now, for those who are not Yahoo users, here’s the good news, you can change the default search bar to whatever search engine you are most comfortable to use – be it Bing, or Google.
