Netbooks Still Preferred by Many than the iPad

Recent study by the NPD group reveals that when asked if they prefer an iPad over a netbook, some 18-24 year olds still prefer to have a regular netbook. But here’s the interesting part, although netbooks are still preferred over the iPad, the marginal difference between those who preferred the netbook and iPad is very slim.

Another interesting finding by the study revealed that 44% of existing Apple Mac owners prefer to get a new MacBook rather than the iPad.  For awhile I thought most of the people who pre-ordered the iPad are actually current Macbook users?

One of the reasons cited why respondents still prefer a regular netbook may perhaps be the price point of the iPad, which currently stood at $499 for the entry-level.

How about you? If you did not pre-ordered the iPad and you’re about to purchase a new portable computer, which would you rather have, an iPad or a regular netbook?
