Nexus 7 Banned in the Chinese Market?
With the competition for tablets getting stiffer, a huge blow for Nexus 7 has been made, for the slate is not yet allowed to be sold in the Chinese market. Considering the number of people clamoring for Nexus 7 and Google in a rush to sell the tablet in time for the holiday season, it will be a major set back as the Chinese Government has not yet approved its import into the country according to sources in Taiwan.
Many might think that this is brought about by Google’s withdrawal from the Chinese market in 2010. Google’s decision to shutdown google.cn in 2010, because of its refusal to follow China’s censorship is marked as one of the first ever decision of a large corporation to boycott the Chinese market. This major decision by Google was brought about cyber attacks aimed at gathering information and activities of Chinese Human rights activists.
The Nexus 7 would have made a formidable opponent against the vendors of white boxed tablets n China. Coupled with Asustek, Google’s tablet would have a significant niche in the market. But even without the Chinese market, Google’s Nexus 7 will still sell at least 3.5 million units by the end of this year.
