Nexus 7 features magnet sensor
A video has emerged showing that the Google Nexus 7 Android tablet features a “magnet sensor” which works similarly to the magnets in the iPad 2 and iPad 3 from Apple. The video shows a magent being moved around the tablet and when it hits a certain spot, the screen turns off. Likewise when the magnet is taken away from the Nexus 7′s internal magnet, the screen of the tablet lights up again.
This works in a similar way to Apple’s iPad and Smart Covers. With the Smart Cover covering the screen, the iPad’s screen switches off as the magnets in the smart cover align with the iPad’s magnets and opening the smart cover and removing the magnet, the iPad jumps to life.
While this is certainly a great feature and one I’ve missed while using non iPad products I’m sure Apple won’t be too happy about the technology used in the Nexus and we could quite possibly see another lawsuit filed by Apple.
