Nokia is Scouting for Partners to Produce an Arm-Based Smartbook
Alright, nevermind if Asus’ Jerry Shen feels like there is no definite market yet for smartbooks yet. Nokia is very keen on releasing their own version of a smartbook that will run on the ARM platform. According to Digitimes, Nokia is already scouting for possible ODM to make their smartbook a reality. This is in addition to the 3G Booklet that they are going to release pretty soon.
Among those which Nokia is eyeing to produce their smartbook are Compal Electronics and Foxconn Electronics. Said smartbook is scheduled to be release most probably mid-2010. In case we missed telling you, Nokia’s Booklet 3G will be produce by none other than Compal Electronics so it is most likely that Nokia will outsource the production of their smartbook to Compal as well.
So, it looks like there is no stopping Nokia anymore in entering the exciting ultraportable PC market. Let’s just hope that it’s not yet too late.
