NOOK Tablet

Barnes& Noble offers digital media devices on their NOOK devices. The NOOK lineup includes an eBook reader using E Ink, NOOK color and NOOK Android tablets. The NOOK tablet that was launched in November and is the fastest-selling device of the NOOK family.

Millions of NOOK devices had been sold and it is expected that millions more are going to fly off the shelves in Q3. The announcement didn’t include breakdown figures of NOOK Simple Touch, NOOK Color or NOOK Tablet devices. Bit the NOOK tablet is the fastest selling NOOK product.

B&N generated $220 million from its NOOK line last quarter, hardware, accessories and digital content included. The $249 tablet is rivaled by Amazon’s Kindle Fire which also sports the same 1 GHz OMAP4 dual core processors, 7-inch form factor and 1024×600 pixel display. Both devices are designed for reading books, media consumption, web surfing and running apps. Amazon, however, owns music and movie stores but B&N does not.

Both devices are hacker-friendly but the NOOK includes a locked bootloader while Kindle Fire auto-updates to prevent users from loading custom firmware.

    My husband and I love our new Kindle Fire.  It’s lightweight, easy to use and has a great interface.  The first thing I recommend anyone with a new Kindle do is install the nook app.  We got our instructions from http://www.kindlemad.com through google.   It basically unlocks all the Android marketplace apps and unlocks the device.  I am one very happy Kindle owner!
