Notion Ink’s Android SmartPad Shows Off Renders

It seems the tablet news isn’t slowing down. Notion Ink has given a sneak peek on their new “smartpad.” It’s basically a slim tablet with lots of connectivity like WiFi, Bluetooth and UMTS/HSDPA together with some slick video capabilities courtesy of an eight-core NVIDIA Tegra T20 chipset and the 10.1″ 1024 x 600 Pixel Qi transreflective screen. That last one lets you use the tablet outdoors as well as indoors and can handle a grayscale mode as well.

As you can see from the pic, it looks pretty darn sexy and we just have to make do with the renders since the real deal won’t be shown until CES 2010.

Other drool-worthy specs are a built-in digital compass, accelerometer, A-GPS, 3MP auto-focus camera and sensors for light, water and proximity. It’s going to weigh at just 1.7 lbs. plus will have an impressive 16 hours worth or Internet browsing time or 8 hours of HD viewing pleasure, way more than enough for most folks. It includes ports for USB, HDMI, headphones and mic with either a 16GB or 32GB SSD. The operating system will be Android for now, but I’m sure it can handle XP and Linux as well.

With that feature set, expect this thing to be quite premium as Notion Ink has no firm pricing yet.
