NVIDIA sees 50 Optimus-enabled notebooks launching by mid-2010

NVIDIA’s newly introduced Optimus technology, which enables compatible notebooks to switch automatically between discrete and integrated graphics, should be present in at least 50 notebooks by mid-2010, according to NVIDIA. Asus is expected to launch a series of notebook models supporting NVIDIA’s Optimus technology, and these include the UL50Vf, N61Jv, N71Jv, N82Jv and U30Jc. With Optimus offering support for Atom N450 and N470 processors, it wouldn’t be surprising to see Asus and other netbook makers to launch new models supporting this technology as well. The full list of compatible processors and platforms are as follows: Intel Core i3, i5 and i7 (Arrandale), and Core 2 Duo (Penryn) processors, and Nvidia’s GeForce 200M and 300M-series GPUs and its Ion 2 platform.
