asus-logo1The highly impressive OLED screens, usually found on TVs, is about to find their way into Asus netbooks. At CeBIT, Jonney Shih, Asus chairman, has revealed that Asus are considering including OLED screens in future Eee PCs. Unfortunately, Shih didn’t provide any further information on this, but has confirmed the company will be focusing on Eee PCs with a 10 inch display.

OLED screens however aren’t cheap and has seen 11 inch Sony TVs have the price driven up to more than regular LCD 20″ TVs. As the Eee PC line is generally considered a low priced netbook, it could be a while until we actually see an OLED Eee PC, when OLED screens are generally cheaper to produce and use.

  1. Interesting. I mean, I suppose I see why they would want OLED displays, they produce less backlight and truer blacks, but netbooks are primarily for browsing and non-intensive work or media. Don’t really see the advantages on a smaller book like that over LCD.
