OpenTablet 7 revealed at MWC

We talked about this home remote tablet last month and OpenPeak finally debuted it at the recent Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. Here are some specs:

OpenTablet 7

  • 7″ touchscreen
  • Moorestown Intel Atom CPU
  • OpenPeak Linux-based platform, Flash CS4 capable (for apps)
  • 802.11b/g/n WiFi, Bluetooth 2.1, 3G connectivity
  • built-in mic and speakers, dual camera
  • HDMI out
  • 1 x USB, microSD card slot
  • 0.59″ thin
  • Weight: 0.52kg

The target use case is for this to be a home tablet computer, capable of controlling appliances and also for making and receiving calls. What’s interesting is that it can handle Flash but we’ll have to wait and see how well it will do in that area. If it does play Flash well, I suppose that video playback will be of excellent quality too and it should do equally well in web browsing.

No other details like price or release date yet but I’m guessing people will want to take a look at this as an iPad alternative if you just want to use it indoors.
