Panasonic to release 10 inch Toughbook in Japan

While the Panasonic Toughbook isn’t all that portable like a netbook should be, it is considered a netbook based on it’s screen size. Compared to the average netbook, it’s almost 2cm bigger in height and more than 3cm bigger in depth and around 1KG heavier. The Panasonic Toughbook 19 measures 271mm x 216mm x 49mm and weighs 2.3kg. The extra dimensions and weight is the price to pay for the “Toughbook” name, which makes it resilient against dust, water and drops.
The Panasonic Toughbook 19 has been announced for release in Japan starting mid September. Pricing of the durable netbook however, is currently unknown at the moment. We do have the specs of the netbook though which includes:
10.4 inch display (1024×768 resolution)
Intel Core i5-540UM vPro CPU
160GB hard drive
2GB DDR3 RAM
Intel QM57 Express chipset
HDMI output
Windows 7 Professional
Panasonic will also be releasing a larger Toughbook in Japan at the same time, the Toughbook 31. It shares many similar features of the Toughbook 19 but, comes with a 13.1 inch display and an Intel Core i5-520M vPro CPU. Likewise, pricing is currently unavailable for the Panasonic Toughbook 31.
