Prestigio Multi 9.7 Android 4.0 Tablet to Launch in Italy

Prestigio showcased a 10-inch tablet called the Prestigio Multi 9.7 in CeBit that could give budget tablet manufacturers a run for their money. Selling for only $259 or 199 Euro, it can compete with similarly-priced 7-inch tablets on the market. However, since it offers a display size of 9.7 inches, some might choose this over the smaller tablets.

For a low-end tablet, its specifications are also decent. The Prestigio Multi 9.7 runs on a single-core ARM Cortex A8 processor clocked at a speed of 1 GHz. This is adequate even for playing HD movies. Like other recently-released tablets, this one also runs on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, which is impressive, given that it is a budget device.

The storgage capacity is 8 GB NAND Flash, expandable through a microSD card. It also has 1 GB of RAM. The screen is an IPS panel touchscreen with a pixel display resolution of 1024 x 600 like what is found on the iPad 2. It also features a fingerprint-resistant back, a webcam, HDMI output, and USB.

It is unknown whether the Prestigio Multi 9.7 will be released outside of Italy, where the tablet will be sold. Shipments will begin around May this year.
