Medion have announced the release date the Akoya Mini E1312. Just bordering on netbook size, it features an 11.6 inch display along with some great specs most laptops don’t provide. Medion are bringing the netbook specs up a notch and for pretty much no extra cost.

The E1312 features a HD resolution of up to 1366 x 768 along with a HDMI port for connecting it up to your TV while not on the move. The Akoya Mini E1312 also doesn’t feature an Intel Atom processor like most other netbooks but rather an AMD Sempron 210u power saving CPU and uses ATI Radeon TM Xpress 1250 graphics. Hard drive size is standard at 160GB. Other specs include three USB ports, 3 in 1 card reader, Windows XP operating system, 1.3 megapixel web cam along with 1GB of RAM, bluetooth, WiFi and an ethernet connection.

The Medion Akoya Mini E1312 will be available in the UK from Aldi starting July 12th. Pricing starts at £339.99 for a 6 cell battery and a three year warranty. A 9 cell battery option is also available.

  3. Looking at the review here : http://www.viddler.com/explore/MiniPCPro/videos/171/ I can see that the keyboard appears to be non-standard. The ‘Y’ and ‘Z’ keys have been swapped over !!! or has mischievious person levered the caps of and swapped them ??

  5. Yes willum08, you are right – every photograph and video of the notebook I have seen so far has the ‘Z’ and ‘Y’ keys are transposed. Also the photograph on the lid of the box also shows the keys in the wrong location.

I have emailed Medion and have asked them why this is and is the keyboard going to be in this configuration when it is sold in the Aldi Stores?

If the keyboard actually works in this manner, then it will be most confusing and I unfortunately would have to reconsider my purchasing decision.
