Reviewed: Asus Eee PC 1201N
The smiling face you see in the screen is Brad from liliputing and he’s put up a comprehensive review of the Asus Eee PC 1201N. This is a non-Pine Trail netbook, hosting an Atom 330 processor instead. The NVIDIA ION graphics card is also a nice addition.
Asus Eee PC 1201N
- 12.1″ 1366 x 768 screen
- 1.60GHz Intel Atom 330 dual-core
- NVIDIA ION
- 2GB RAM
- 250GB HDD
- Windows 7 Home Premium
- 802.11b/g/n WiFi, Bluetooth, LAN port
- 3 x USB, VGA and HDMI out, mic and headphone jacks, SDHC card reader
- 6-cell 5600mAh battery (4 hour battery life)
The screen is nice and perfect for video viewing and the RAM is easily accessible via a bottom panel. The additional screen real estate also gave room for expansion of the keyboard, so you have dedicated page buttons on the side. There is also an additional button on top dedicated for the quick-start bootup using SplashTop.
The palmrest is a bit prone to fingerprints though. It also gets a bit hot due to the additional processor power. Sadly, the battery lasts only for around 4 hours, way below the 11 hours other netbooks are capable of delivering these days.
Brad’s verdict is that this unit will do well with gaming and media playing at a considerably affordable price. You can get one at Amazon for US$484. Hit the link below for a fuller review.
