Remember the Ion powered netbook from Samsung we recently reported on? At the time we only had a few specs and no pictures or price. But thanks to UberGizmo, they’ve captured live photos of the upcoming N510 netbook from Samsung as well as some more information. As previously reported, the netbook will feature a 160GB HDD, 1GB of RAM, a 11.1 inch display instead of a 11.6 inch screen. On the left hand side a VGA and HDMI port are seen. The netbook is expected to retail for $600 when it launches in the US.

  1. If anyone is wondering the release date for the United States it is July 21, 2009. I talked to a Samsung rep today and he would not release the price. I am excited to see if this will be competitively priced.

  2. Well, since it’s being released in the UK and Ireland first, I would expect it to be released on the 20th over here.

  3. Is Ion Doomed? says:

Any word Sean? It’s the 21st, and I was counting on you. Lol. I wish somebody would release a netbook with ion already. I’m growing impatient and keep seeing the price of laptops dropping. If the manufacturers wait much longer then I’m going to have to cave in and just buy something else.

Anyone else think Ion may be doomed and I should just stop waiting for it?

…don’t they know school is about to start?

  5. Well it appears that the ship date was pushed back until the end of August sometime according to twitter in France. So I think the rep I talked to was full of crap. We probably won’t see one of these for quite a while in the U.S. which makes the lenovo s12 looking like more of an option.

  6. [...] is reporting that Samsung has confirmed that arrival of its NVIDIA ION powered netbook, the N510. Project shipment date is sometime in in September and the netbook will get a price tag of $599. [...]

  7. …. I have been reading that the UK release is being held back until the release of Windows 7. I wonder if Samsung will give us a free upgrade to the latest O/S. Also read that this can easily be upgraded to 2Gb as it can take any DDR2 SO Dimm 800 memory, could it go higher I wonder..

Seems a controversial size of screen as is it starting to think it is a young notebook or a mature netbook..
