Sheng T108, A Cut Above The Netbook Crowd
Sheng Potential Technology Co. from China flaunts their new netbook with a sleek brushed aluminum surface like those of the HP Mini 2133. I’d say it’s as classy as the Lenovo U150 and the Sony Vaio P but would you believe me if I told you this is a shanzhai netbook?
The details about the company are sparse but it appears it wants to be something like Apple for the shanzhai market, making premium products that differ from all the other clone and knock-off devices that the Shenzhen makers are known for. Some specs to whet your appetite:
- Intel Atom N280 945GS
- 10.1″ screen
- 2GB DDR2 RAM
- 250GB hard drive
- 3-cell 3000mAh
- Built-in webcam
- VGA port
- 802.11 b/g Wi-Fi
- SIM card slot for simple 3G connectivity
- Standard card reader.
While the other specs are standard fare, the boosted RAM and HDD are certainly not common for netbooks from these types of manufacturers and the inclusion of 3G is something new as well. I’m hoping they put in more innovation in their netbooks and other devices in the near future so we have an alternative to the branded ones.
