Skytex to Launch SkyPad Omega and SkyPad Argos This Year
Skytex revealed that it is producing Android tablets made to run the fourth and latest version of Google Android, Ice Cream Sandwich. The company known for producing affordable Android tablets recently stated that it has two new models in the works, namely SkyPad Omega as well as SkyPad Argos. Moreover, it was announced that there will be an ICS update for the currently available SkyPad Alpha 2.
The new models SkyPad Omega and SkyPad Argos will both have 8GB storage capacity, capacitive touchscreens with 5-point multitouch functionality. The SkyPad Omega spans 8 inches with a 1024 x 768-pixel display whereas the SkyPad Argos measures 7 inches, and has a 1024 x 600p resolution.
Both tablets will run on 1.2 GHz single-core processors and crisp, vibrant graphics care of Mali 400. There will also be support for 1080 HD viewing. A notable feature on the SkyPad Omega is its removable battery. The Argos, on the other hand, has a removable back panel which allows users to customize the tablet by selecting a differently-colored cover.
Both tablets are expected to be available during the earlier months of 2012. There is speculation that the SkyPad Argos will be priced at around $199.
