Warning, if you’re living in a country where the sun rarely shine, the Iunika GYY netbook is not for you. That’s because the GYY is an 8-inch solar-powered netbook.

That’s right folks, this little machine runs on solar power provided by built-in solar panels outside of its lid in addition to its standard battery pack which gives out 4 hours of usage. As if its environmental aspect is not enough, the GYY netbook is also made of bioplastics which are bio-degradable materials.

The GYY runs on Linux OS and has a 400MHz processor. It’s 8-9 inch screen boasts of 800×480 resolution. Memory is at 128MB and for storage, the GYY has 65GB Solid State Drive. 

The netbook also feature Wi-Fi and Ethernet plus 3 USB ports.

The Iunika GYY netbook will be available soon with a price tag of around $176.

  1. For the price of $176 the 65GB SSD is impossible (even though the source link also mentions it). From the rest of the specs I am guessing that the price is $176 but the SSD is 4GB or less.

    Is there anything about battery life or charging from the mains? You can’t count on the sun all the time…
