Sony Vaio Z Has A Little Help From Its Friend

The Vaio Z laptop is already impressive with its specs. Boasting a 13.1-inch display with a 2.7GHz Intel Core i7 processor, it’s also got a 256GB SSD and 8GB RAM. All of this packed into under 1.2 kilos.

Another impressive thing about it is  the onboard Intel HD Graphics 3000 solution inside it. That’s quite a bit of graphical power. But the real kicker is that if you buy its Power Media Dock, the Vaio Z would have an AMD Radeon 6650M GPU with 1GB of dedicated memory backing up that Intel graphical muscle. Connected  via Light Peak, it enables the Vaio Z to push a whole lot more polygons that expected.

Of course that’s going to cost you. The Vaio alone is priced at at £1,434 ($2,294). The PMD costs an additional £400 ($640). Still, that’s a small price to pay for that much power. If you want one, check the shelves at the end of July.
