A survey of 600 Americans by the NPD Group showed that 58% of those who bought a netbook instead of a regular notebook were satisfied with their purchase. However, around 70% of those who purchased notebook admitted that they thought of getting a netbook but changed their mind in the end.
Hence, the study concluded that netbook owners are more likely to be disappointed compared to those who bought larger notebooks.
Stephen Baker, an Analyst of the NPD Group said that the dissappointment from netbooks are due to the fact most of those who purchased a netbook was expecting that these machines are almost as powerful as their notebook counterparts.
In other words, consumers are still not aware of the difference between a notebook and a netbook. Maybe they should read the Eee PC Blog everyday to know how different these two computers are.
Now here’s an interesting demograhics. 27% of those who belong to the 18-24 age group claimed that their netbooks performed better than expected and 65% felt that their expectations were not met.
Another interesting finding of the study was the number reason why consumers bought netbooks than notebooks – portability. Ironically the same number of consumers said that they never brought their netbooks out of their houses.
