Amazon’s Kindle Fire has attained a huge success after its launch last year for giving the right quantity of compromises and advanced technology delivery software. Together with its positive hit, the company doesn’t fail to maintain and develop future low-cost tablet PCs.

In fact, according to The Next Web, Amazon will debut its new set of inexpensive slates soon with 7 and 8.9-inch panel displays. The first two tablets will have the same size of 7 inches and will equip a standard resolution of 1024 x 600 pixels. On the other hand, the third tablet is set to span 8.9 inches and will have a higher resolution display of 1920 x 1200 pixels.

The resolution increase however, is for sharper and crispier viewing of images, watching video clips and surfing the web. Unlike with other tablets, Amazon has its own content store and ecosystem served as the download portal for music, e-books, magazines, news, movies and other apps.

Amazon rolls out an updated version of Kindle Fire software. The software version 6.3 includes a number of new features and improvements such as:

• Users can now share passages from a book using a new “share” option.
• Book Extras let you character descriptions, glossary terms, and other data without leaving a book.
• Whispersync will now work with Personal Documents, letting you sync your last read page between devices.
• Print Replicas of textbooks are now available.
• There’s a new Reading View in the Amazon Silk web browser which presents everything in a single-column view.
• Movie rental periods now begin when you start watching a video, not when you start downloading it to your device.
• The Kindle Fire should now reconnect to WiFi more quickly when the screen is turned on.

Users must be wary that if you have a rooted Kindle Fire, the over-the-air update will remove your root access unless you’ve installed a custom ROM or taken other action to block updates.

For those who do not want to wait for the wireless update, you have the option to download the update straight from Amazon’s servers and use the “Update your Kindle” option under device settings to install it.

Amazon is getting ready to launch two new tablet PCs to expand its lineup during the second half of the year. The first tablet would be a 7-incher while the second would be a 10-incher.

This move is a follow-up to the success of the Amazon Kindle Fire, a tablet from the same company that sold 3.98 million units since its release during the last quarter of 2011. The Kindle Fire currently ranks as the number 2 tablet in terms of global sales, following the Apple iPad, with a 14% market share.

Because of these figures, Amazon is now concentrating future efforts on the tablet instead of the e-reader. It had already reduced its number of orders from E Ink Holdings for e-paper parts used in e-readers in view of this new focus. This has naturally affected the revenues of E Ink Holdings, which had dropped to 62% in its annual records.

Moreover, it had been rumored earlier that it had been developing an 8.9-inch model, but a 10-inch one would help it compete better with tablets such as the iPad.

Amazon is expected to have Wintek and TPK Holdings as its touch panel supplier, and Quanta Computer and Foxconn Electronics for the production of the 10-inch tablet.

There’s no doubt that Amazon’s going to sell a lot of Kindle Fires this year, even more if it rolls out new and larger versions of the device.

It’s been speculated before, but it’s interesting to hear that Amazon may finally have a 9-inch version of the Fire entering the market later this year, particularly now that  Apple’s iPad 3 is about to debut next month. This makes some people wonder how the retailer’s loss-leader strategy will mean to the larger-screen tablet market that Apple dominates.

On the other hand, if Amazon raises Fire estimates, the Kindle e-reader unit estimates are reduced to 24 million from 28.6 million. It’s not clear that increased Kindle Fire adoption is responsible for that decline. But it’s pretty easy to make the argument that the Fire is cannibalizing sales of its less-capable predecessors.

For people wanting a bigger 9-inch Kindle Fire, it is believed to be shipped by the end of Q2 or Q3 of 2012.

Amazon has posted the results outlining the costs of pushing the Kindle Fire. Amazon’s device sold almost 177 percent over the past year. However, its net profit dropped 58 percent to $177 million. The profit slash came despite its 35 percent sales hike to just over $17.4 billion.

Kindle Fire has been Amazon’s bestseller since its release, but it’s not known what this means without context. Amazon has always argued that it doesn’t post its figures and keep it as a competitive secret. Critics have pointed to Apple being very open with its numbers and have suggested that Amazon avoids device numbers to cover up any of its flaws.

Whether or not these speculations are accurate, rumors and outlooks have Amazon cutting production by large numbers without the momentum of a holiday to drive units. Apple has often seen only mild slumps or even increases in numbers of its devices in the past few years.

Strategy Analytics reported that around 10.5 million Android tablets were shipped during the fourth quarter of 2011. That makes more than a 300-percent jump from that of last year’s, while the increase in Android tablet shipments means that Android devices now make up about 39 percent of overall tablet sales.

Mark Spoonauer at Laptop Magazine asked what role do the Amazon Kindle Fire and NOOK Tablet played. Surprisingly, about 40 percent of the 10.5 million tablets were NOOK Tablet or Kindle Fire devices.

While both tablets run on Google Android, the NOOK Tablet and Kindle Fire both ship with highly modified versions of Android, and neither includes the Android Market. Hackers, however, have figured out how to install Android 4.0 or a more Google-like version of Android 2.3 on the Kindle Fire by replacing the bootloader as well as the recovery software and loading CyanogenMod on the tablet.

Work is underway with the NOOK Tablet as well, and hackers have already figured out how install the Android Market or to sideload apps that don’t come from the B&N Shop on that tablet.

But it’s likely that most NOOK Tablet and Kindle Fire owners are using the pre-installed software on their tablets, which means that while Android tablets are gaining in market share, some of the most popular “Android” tablets don’t look or feel like they’re running the software that Google designed, and don’t download apps, music, movies, or ebooks from Google’s online stores.

Words are coming in that Amazon Thursday has made the best sales for its Kindle devices during the holiday season.

While the online store didn’t have the exact figure on how many units were sold per model, Amazon did confirmed that its customers have purchased millions of Kindle Fires and Kindle eReaders. The company also noted that its #1 and #4 best-selling eBooks, which was released this year were published by independent authors via Kindle Direct Publishing platform.

The Kindle Fire was one of the most popular device today, followed by the Kindle Touch and the Kindle. Amazon also mentioned that gifting of Kindle eBooks has to jumped 175%, between Black Friday and Christmas Day, compared to last year.

As of now, Amazon has not released the exact sales numbers yet, nor for its Kindle devices, though there are some who suggests that Amazon may sell more than 5 million Kindle Fire tablets in 2011.

Amazon released version 6.2.1 of its Kindle Software. The primary goal of the update is to improve UI performance, a notable complaint against the Kindle Fire since its debut.

The update should be delivered over-the-air. Instructions for manually updating via USB can be found on Amazon’s website. For those who have not received it the OTA update yet, follow the instructions below.

Download your software: Click on the link below to download the software update file directly to your computer: Download Software Update 6.2.1

Transfer software to your Kindle: Turn your Kindle Fire on and unlock the screen. Then connect it to your computer using a USB cable (sold separately). Drag and drop the new update file from your computer to the kindleupdates folder on your Kindle drive. (The drive is typically displayed as a “device” icon).Monitor file transfer and disconnect: Check your file transfer progress to ensure the file transfer to your Kindle Fire is complete before disconnecting. After the file has transferred successfully, tap the “Disconnect” button on your Kindle Fire screen to safely disconnect your Kindle Fire from your computer. Disconnect the USB cable from your Kindle Fire and your computer.

Start the software update: Ensure your battery is fully charged. Tap the Quick Settings icon in the top right corner of your screen, then tap “More…” then Device. Select “Update Your Kindle.” (This option will be grayed out if the most recent update has already been installed or if the file transfer was not successful.) Your Kindle Fire will restart twice during the update. After the first restart, you will see the Kindle Fire logo on the screen.Once the update is complete: The Device screen will display “Current Version: 6.2.1″ when the update is complete.

According to Amazon, the 6.2.1 contains the following goodness:

• Enhanced fluidity and performance – The user interface felt choppy, especially with items like the coverflow or “carousel” feature. This update aims to improve that.
• Improves touch navigation responsiveness
• Adds the option to choose which items display on the carousel and remove the ones you don’t – Many people were concerned about their privacy because the carousel would display items you might not want others to see
• Adds the ability to add a password lock on Wi-Fi access – This improvement is to help you keep your kids reading books and not watching YouTube
