Chinese netbook seller, ePrice.com got their hands on a pre-release version of the upcoming Acer Aspire one D250 and has done their quick review of the said netbook. In case you forgot already, the Aspire One D250 is the same netbook that will be released again for the simple reason that it was pre-loaded with the Android OS. That’s in addition to Windows XP of course.

Yes, the Aspire One D250 is a dual-booting netbook which we could say is Acer’s way of testing out the viability of an Android-powered netbook. But based on the initial review of ePrice, it seems that the Aspire D250 is a little disappointing.

Although the netbook boots and shut downs relatively fast, Acer did not do anything though to modify its interface. Meaning, the Android OS is a straight out port of the version that you see in Android phones.

In addition, direct access to the Android Market was also removed so finding apps to use could be difficult.

So, hopefully Acer and whoever is responsible for the Android port will do something to improve the performance of the Android before the netbook is officially released.

As it is already available in Asia, I was able to sit down with a live unit of the Acer Aspire One D250 today to see how different it is from the model that it replaces. As you may already know, it serves to phase out Acer’s first 10-inch netbook, which was released not more than three months ago, the Acer Aspire One D150. What’s so special about the Aspire One D250 that Acer had to introduce it even though it’s essentially just the same model as the D150 but with a better processor and slimmer profile? We’ll have the answer to that shortly.

Thanks to Acer Europe we now have a full glimpse of Acer’s new 10-inch Aspire One D250 netbook. Like what we told you before, the Aspire One D250 is slightly different from the other 10-inch Aspire One netbook, the D150.

The Aspire One D250 measures 1-inch thick and weighs only 2.5 lbs. This is evident in the netbook’s slim form factor. Specs-wise the said Acer netbook features an Intel Atom N270 or N280 CPU, 3G Broadband capability, 2GB RAM, 160GB HDD, Windows XP Home OS, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, card reader, 0.3 MP webcam (major bummer alert!). The Aspire One D250 also carries 3 USB 2.0 ports, VGA Output, Ethernet Port and audio in/out jacks.

In addition, the netbook sports a multi-touch input touchpad and an 89% keyboard.

Another major bummer is the Aspire One D250′s 3-cell battery which can only give you 3.15 hours battery life. But you may opt to upgrade the battery with either a 4400mAh 6-cell or 5200mAh 6-cell battery which could give you longer usage time.
