The Eee PC 900A is getting a new look. ASUS are rolling out a snazzy new line of gold and blue colored 900A’s which will contain the original hardware, the changes are purely cosmetic it seems.

The original Asus Eee PC 900A was launched in August at a price of $465, it’s an 8.9 inch netbook, powered by a 1.6GHz Atom processor. This Eee Pc comes with either 8GB or 16GB of SSD storage and with 1GB of RAM.

For anyone drawn to these ‘dolled up’ Eee Pc’s, there is no news on pricing for you just yet although, they’re expected to be similar in price to the original 900A netbook.

Bad news – the version of the Eee PC 900A that was being tested by HKPUG has been confirmed as an “earlier test version”. When released, the retail versions of the Eee PC 900A will be fitted with MLC based SSDs in them which are slower. This would mean that running on Windows XP would be a slow experience as would running anything that requires writing to the disc. It should be able to run using Linux though.
