Asus were due to release their Eee PC T91 tablet netbook in the UK prior to it’s release in the US, weeks ago. Unfortunately, Asus UK have explained that due to a “logistical mishap”, the release in the UK has been delayed as distribution has been affected. However, the issue is now sorted out and the Eee PC T91 will be available for purchase in the UK from the 22nd of June.

Whether distribution to the US has been affected is unclear and with an expected release there soon, we will be looking to Asus to clarify the situation and also to confirm the cost of the T91 on US shores.

The guys at eeepc.it have been keen eyed and have spotted that Asus have updated their support site to include a new version of the Eee PC BIOS. The new BIOS can increase the memory usage of the on board graphics card from 128Mb to 224Mb boosting usage of video streaming and software that requires a higher graphic resource.

Models supported for the new BIOS version include the Eee PC 1000HA, 904HA, 900HA, 904HA, 1000H and the Eee PC 1000HE which can be found on the Asus support site.

Linux based OS developer Ubuntu have announced the arrival of the beta version of Ubuntu Netbook Remix 9.04, a version aimed, quite obviously, at netbook users for those who use the operating system and wish to upgrade to 8.10 to try out the beta of 9.04.

According to Ubuntu, version 9.04 is almost ready for it’s full release but, until then if you can’t wait to try it out on your netbook the details of the beta can be found here at the official site.

It’s possible to download the operating system and create a USB drive image on the netbook version so there is no need for installation at all, making it great to test out. A video has been posted up of such a test on Youtube by user omnistegan, showing the Netbook Remix Beta in action on an Asus Eee PC 1000H and the results of the test are very positive with the OS seemingly very quick on the netbook and smooth to use:
