There are several things going on in China. One of those things is the availability of a MacBook clone colored red. It looks damn good. It is a netbook, yes, but far from being a MacBook.

This is a 1.8GHz Atom laptop with 2GB of RAM and 320 GB of hard drive. They couldn’t stick an optical disk so there is none. It’s slightly thinner than a MacBook and it has that Apple logo on the lid. It is priced at $275. Probably will not arrive in the US. Of course.

Dell has been aggressive with taking its wares to China. They already teamed up with Baidu to take on tablets and phones, now Dell is going in for the notebook market too. Dell is reigniting the classic Adamo notebook just for China (Adamo is pretty much dead in other territories). However, the Adamo’s form factor is being used by other Chinese manufacturers and not Dell themselves.

At 11.6 inches, this device comes in two differnt sizes and is smaller than Dell Adamo. The other netbook-like features of this Adamo clones are Atom N270, a GB of RAM, Intel GMA 945 graphics card and 160GB of hard-drive. It looks thin as well. There are no other additions except for the fact that these netbooks cost 10 times less than Dell Adamo which is priced at $367 or CNY 2500.

The Nokia Booklet 3G is one of the most expensive netbooks we’ve seen to date, so it’s probably come as no surprise that a knock off version is in the works. The design looks pretty much the same as the original Nokia Booklet but, the specs differ slightly. As it’s still being worked on, not all the specs are known as of yet. The 3G aspect of the booklet clone is currently unknown, so we’ll have to wait to hear on whether it will include a 3G connection option. Another spec which is unknown at the moment, is whether it has a HDMI output or not. MicGadget reports it as “maybe” having HDMI.

What we do know however, is that it will feature a 10.1 inch display, 1024×600 pixel resolution, 1GB RAM and a 160GB hard drive. It will also come equipped with the Intel Atom N450 CPU. The battery is also non removable, which depending on what the battery life is like, could be a big let down. Pricing isn’t known as of yet but, it’s expected to cost no more than 2,000 Yaun ($295).

Many institutions like schools and offices have their own branded stationery, pens and what not. How about having your own branded netbook? It’s easier than you think.

Guo Bang in China are offering DIY netbook kits to local communities in their area. It probably goes beyond branding and should appeal to gadget builders everywhere since you can supply your own RAM and hard disks and get the rest from them.

Granted, the DIY part of this endeavor are already offered by the likes of MSI and Asus, it’s still satisfying to boast that you’ve built a netbook by yourself. No word if this will be available outside of Shenzhen or if us commoners can get a hold of one since the offer is more tuned towards other manufacturers who need a quick fix when they’re running low on netbook supplies.

The HP Mini 5102 clone that was recently spotted has been named and priced. The clone is named the Tenda T26, although you won’t find the name on the netbook as the HP logo has also been perfectly cloned on the netbook. Previously, we knew of the Intel Atom N450 model, which was priced at 2300 Yuan ($337) but, we now know that the netbook is available with an Intel Atom N270 CPU, or the N280.

With the N270 CPU, the netbook will retail for 1700 Yuan ($249), or with the N280 processor, it will cost 1800 Yuan ($256). The battery is also a configurable option, with it being available with a 3 cell or 6 cell battery. The above prices are based on the 3 cell battery model.

Malata may already have a VAIO P clone out, the PC-98905 but, the company are releasing a second VAIO P clone, dubbed the A802. Because of the small hard drive size, a 160GB mobile hard drive is also included with the netbook. The screen is an 8.9 inch display, with touch functionality.

It willl retail for 3999 Yuan, which is about $588 USD and is available in a choice of four colors. You can pick from pink, lilac, black or blue.

We’ve had a fair amount of coverage of MacBook Air clones in this site. What’s not to love about them? They have the same thin-and-light body (even lighter since it’s plastic and not aluminum) with a full-size chiclet keyboard. The price is really affordable since it’s a glorified netbook and runs lower end components, which is fine for many mobile users. Not only that, it has more than one USB port! Some even have HDMI and LAN ports. Beat that, Apple!

The cloning cycle now comes to a full circle, with some of the newest clone models sporting that ubiquitous glowing Apple logo on the lid. It even trumps the MacBook Air in that you can choose the color of the logo from pink to green. It can even be customized and you can choose from silver, white and black chassis as well as from white or black keyboards. Some specs:

13.3″ 1280 x 800 LCD

1.66GHz Intel Atom N280

1GB RAM

160GB HDD

Windows XP or no OS

802.11b/g/n WiFi

SD slot

2 x USB ports, HDMI out, LAN port, microphone and speaker jacks

3-cell battery (around 2 hours battery life)

I’ve personally handled quite a few of these and some can even run Mac OSX smoothly, turning it into an even better version of the Air. If you fancy getting one of these beauts, you will have to go to Shenzhen since I’m very doubtful your local retailer will sell these and risk Apple’s trademark hammer slamming down on them. It’ll cost you about $1700RMB ro US$249, not bad and some even offer one-year warranty for these.

Visit the link to admire this new netbook. From afar, of course.

Clone netbook manufacturers from Shenzhen in China aren’t much to keeping up with the latest tech trends and most tend to stick to the tried and tested initial Atom CPU offered by Intel. Phecda though wants to do something different by pushing forward with a new Pine Trail-powered unit called the PHI102B-2.

It looks like there’s nothing else to harp about for this particular device besides the new processor though. The specs are:

Intel Atom N450 with NM10 Express chipset and GMA 3150

up to 2GB RAM

160 GB HDD

3-cell 2450 mAh battery

It’ll be available in a couple of weeks for 250 USD in their part of the world. From what I see on the specs, the smaller battery is offset by the new chipset so that overall battery life would roughly remain the same as other shanzhai units, probably even a bit more.

Well it’s taken a while, but the high priced netbook has been cloned in China for a lot less. The original HP Mini 100 Vivienne Tam edition netbook features a 10 inch display, 1.8 inch HDD along with a selling price of $700. HP are now phasing out the HP Mini 1000, which includes the Vivienne Tam model, so it’s not surprising to see that it’s been cloned. From the photo, the colors look less vibrant, but it’s not clear if they are, or if it’s due to the photo light. Again, the clone model features a 10 inch display along with a HDD storage. The HDD on the clone however is a 2.5 inch HDD. It’s not clear if this affects the size of the netbook though. Whether it does or not though, pretty much becomes irrelevant when the price is considered. The Vivienne Tam clone is retailing for $300, making it less than half the price of the genuine model. The clone is created by Qifang Electronics and appears to only be available in China.
