Intel recently showed off their super thin netbook concept at Computex and now we have a video demo of the netbook. The netbook is dubbed the Canoe Lake netbook, as it’s powered with Canoe Lake. Under the hood it features an Intel Atom N550 CPU, 2GB of RAM and a 120GB hard drive. It’s been confirmed that it won’t include an SSD. It will also run Windows 7 Ultimate as the OS. It’s very possible that the Canoe Lake netbook will feature an Intel GMA 3150 graphics chipset. You can view the video after the jump.(...)
Read the rest of Intel’s Super thin netbook demoed on video (1 words)

At Computex 2010, MSI have introduced two new concept netbook designs. Unfortunately not much information is known about the two netbooks but, we do have some information regarding the netbooks.

First up is the MSI Serene. The Serene uses MSI’s thermal technology, meaning the netbook will be fanless, making it almost silent while in use. The thermal technology uses heat dissipation, which the company wants to integrate into future products.

The MSI La Mode is also designed with heat dissipation in mind. Other than that, it’s pretty much like the MSI Wind U160 but, tweaked slightly on the exterior design. The case will be ebony cloth with wave pattern as well as a luminescent MSI logo.

If you’re one of the many people who have been looking forward to the release of Google’s open-source Chrome operating system since the day it was first announced, then you’ll be glad to know that Google’s VP of product management Sundar Pichai spoke at Computex 2010 in Taipei and said Chrome OS is on track to be released by the fall of 2010. It will debut in a notebook, and while it wasn’t specified what brand and model it would be, there’s hope that it might be an upcoming netbook from Acer, as earlier rumors have suggested. He didn’t mention any other details about the open-source OS, other than trying to explain how Google sees it differently from Android, as it is intended for use in the desktop PC environment while Android is for handheld devices.

Netbooks are supposed to be portable and Intel goes one further by showing off this ultra thin netbook concept at Computex in Taiwan. It doesn’t say exactly how thin it is but, you can see from the pictures how thin the device actually is, with UberGizmo describing it as “magically thin”. Not many specs about the concept netbook are known but, we do know it features the latest Intel Atom processor for netbooks, as well as using DDR3 RAM. Last time Intel showed a concept netbook/laptop, the Voodoo Envy 13 was created, so it’s assumed Intel are hoping to do the same this time, as well as showing off what is possible to do with Atom processors.

The company are also showing off a tablet at Computex, again equipped with an Intel Atom processor. It also has a web cam and USB port. Other details on the tablet are unknown though but, more details are sure to surface.

Now that the Computex event had come to a close, it’s time to give you a round-up of the different netbooks, ultraportable low-cost PCs that were launched during the event. We’ve covered 9 products including the Eee PC 901, 1000 and 1000h. If we’ve missed something, please leave a comment.

Eee PC 901 – the first Eee PC model to have the Atom processor. Actually that is probably the only reason why Asus decided to release an update of the Eee PC 900 with the 901. Asustek throw in a WiMAX capability to enable faster data connectivity. And with the energy efficient Atom processor, battery life of the 901 has been improved to 6 hours max.

Eee PC 1000 and 1000h – Both these models were not expected to happen until Asustek got threatened by the launch of rival MSI Wind which looks to be a promising and more powerful alternative to the Eee PC 900. So, Asustek went ahead and launched their 10-inch baby equipped with the Atom processor, Bluetooth, 6 hours battery life, and a 40GB SSD for the 1000 and 80GB Hard Drive for the 1000h.

Gigabyte M912 Netbook – This netbook that doubles up as a tablet pc boasts of a rotatable 8.9-inch LCD display, a 2.5-inch SATA HD with up to 250GB capacity and optional 40GB SSD for additional storage.

Medion Akoya -previously branded as Akoya E1210, this Atom-powered ultraportable PC may no longer be portable at its big 10.2-inch display. It features an 80GB SSD, 1.3 webcam, WI-FI, and 1GB DDR memory.

FIC CE2A1 and CW0A1 – We haven’t covered these two FIC netbooks prior the Computex. What distinguish the two is their processors – the CE2A1 has 1.2GHz VIA C7-M ULV processor with VIA VX800 chipset while the CW0A1 boasts of 1600MHz Intel Atom processor N270. Both have a 160GB HD.

Acer Aspire One – Among the slew of netbooks and ultraportables that showed up during the Computex, Acer Aspire One looks to be the most promising and could definitely give the Eee PC models a run for their money. the Acer Aspire One would either be powered by the Linpus Linux Lite or Windows XP Home. It will also either come with a 512MB or 1GBMB RAM. The Acer Aspire One would also be loaded with a CrystalEye webcam, a nand flash module of 8GB or an 80GB internal HDD. It will also support SD, MMC, Memory Stick, Memory Stick Pro, xD-picture card. So, that would give you many options for storage.

Other models that showed up in the Computex include:

Dell Inspiron

ECS10Gl

E-Lead’s Noahpad

MSI Wind’s 8-inch
