GottaBeMobile had a chat with Kapil Wadhera, ODM Director at Intel, about the new Classmate PC 2.0. A lot fo governments have been opting to distribute this netbook to students over other brands due to the natural rugged design. That has lead to less repairs so that learners have more time using them and learning.

Most of the educational institutions opt for the non-convertible Classmate since they were having trouble with the keyboard size and durability of the convertible version. Inking on these devices should feel great though since it was made to emulate paper as closely as possible.

The Toughbook is of course known for its toughness but Panasonic has a new model which not only can withstand a tremendous amount of punishment but is also lightest in its class.

The new Toughbook C1 weighs in at just 1.45kg and is a convertible tablet PC. Another innovation to this laptop line is the inclusion of an Intel Core i5 2.4GHz CPU and an optional multitouch screen. What’s more is that this touchscreen can be used while wearing gloves so it’s perfect for field operations and military use.

Rumors are going around that HP will be refreshing their EliteBook tablet. The current EliteBook tablet features a 12 inch display and convertible design. Information on what could be updated aren’t known yet, other than that Michigan Mercy High School will provide students with the EliteBook 2740p. It’s unlikely the new model will feature a Mobile Core i3 or i5 processor, in order to keep the price relatively low. The revised model is due to be released in Spring.

First announced at CeBIT 2009, the Gigabyte T1028 TouchNote netbook finally has its own product page (and a user manual) available at the manufacturer’s web site. This convertible netbook comes with a 10.1-inch 1042 x 600 LED backlit display, 1GB of RAM (with support for up to 2GB), HSDPA support via an integrated 3.5G module, WiFi b/g/n and optional WiMAX, plus choices between an Intel Atom N270 1.6GHz or N280 1.66Ghz processor. Hungry for more info about the upcoming Asus Eee PC T91? Luckily, we have some. Recently, this convertible touchscreen netbook got its first showing in the UK, and it was demonstrated to members of the press. Pocket-Lint was there to cover the event and while they didn’t get to do a full review of the said netbook, they did get to snap several photos and have made a gallery which the above embedded photo is taken from. Pocket-Lint mentioned that the Eee PC T91 could hit the UK by May for somewhere around £500 or about $690 USD. As the 9-inch Gigabyte M912 netbook got its own 6-cell battery, a larger version of the said netbook was introduced, and it’s called the Gigabyte M1028 Touch Note, also a convertible netbook.
