Last month we saw the Dell Inspiron Mini 1018 available in Europe to purchase for €279 with a release in other regions promised soon. The netbook is now available to purchase in the US and is available in two configurations.

Both models will have a 10.1 inch display, with a resolution of 1024×600. We’ve already learned that Dell won’t be adding a HD display option, which would increase the maximum resolution. Both models of the Dell Mini 1018 will include an Intel Atom 1.66GHz N455 processor and 1GB of RAM. The 1018 will also use Windows 7 Starter as the OS. For $299.99 you’ll also get a 3 cell battery and 160GB hard drive. The other configuration will sport a 250GB hard drive and a 6 cell battery and have a retail price of $397.99. Although if you act fast, there’s a $48 discount, bringing the total to $349.99.

Linux users now have something to show off on their touch-enabled netbooks with this new drivers developed by ENAC’s Interactive Computing Lab in France. The new technology was demostrated on a Stantum Slate PC running Linux Fedora 12. It supports up to 10 simultaneous touches though it does need some hardcore tweaking to run it. Although Windows 7 has multitouch built-in, Linux doesn’t and we’re hoping new distros can take advantage of this and make it available to new and old Linux users in the near future. Dell’s 10-inch Mini 10 netbook is now up for pre-order, but not from Dell. Instead, one can buy it off the web site of QVC, for $559. It will ship on March 20th. To refresh your memory, here are a few of the Dell Inspiron Mini 10′s specs:

Can’t wait to grab your very own Dell Inspiron Mini 10? Well, it still isn’t available yet, but you can bet that it will be pretty soon. It recently became listed on Tesco’s web site for quite a hefty sum: £349 (or about $480). But with the many features it has (standard netbook fare with a 1.6GHz Atom Z530 processor, 1GB RAM, 160GB hard drive, Windows XP, built-in GPS and optional WWAN), it just might be worth it to some people. We still don’t have a definitive release date, but we’ll be sure to update you with that once the info becomes available.
