Asus and Disney teamed up this year to create a netbook aimed at kids, dubbed the “NetPal”. Officially the netbook is known as the Asus MK90H and features an 8.9 inch display, 160GB HDD along with the other usual netbook specs.

The Disney netbook was released in the US last month for $350 and now it’s making it’s way to the UK. When it launches in the UK it will be available in both the colors we were promised, in Disney Princess Pink, or Disney Magic Blue. The netbook will launch in October for £299 from retailers including DisneyStore.com and Comet.

According to an article posted on USA Today, Asus are to join forces with the mighty Disney corporation and are to produce a netbook together aimed at the younger market.

The Disney netbook or ‘Netpal’ will be available in both Toys R Us and Amazon in the US and will be produced with the following specifications that we know of to date:

Display will be 8.9 inches, the processor will be the Intel Atom and storage comes in with two options of a 16GB SSD or 160GB HDD configuration. The weight of the netbook will be between 2.2 and 2.6 pounds.

Applications on this Asus netbook spell out it’s tie-in with Disney, including a “Magic Desktop gadget tray”  which includes a Disney browser and a Radio Disney widget to enable live streaming of music to the netbook. The Netpal will run using the Windows XP operating system with a “kid-friendly user interface” with further Disney tweaks.

The Asus/Disney netbook is due to be released in two different colour combinations – “Princess Pink” with a floral design and “Magic Blue” with a Mickey Mouse design and is due for release in July this year and is due to retail at around the $350 mark.
