Well, it didn’t take Asus that long to make the new Eee PC 1001HA available for pre-order at the Amazon UK site. We were just telling you that this netbook’s specs have been spotted on the Asus global site.

The Eee PC 1001HA is available for $328. Due to its cheap price, you’d get a decent Eee PC with basic features. These include – 10.1-inch display (1024×600), 1.6GHz Intel Atom N270 processor, 1GB of RAM, 160GB of HDD, 3-cell battery, 0.3 webcam, 3 USB ports and Windows XP (sorry folks no Windows 7 in this one).

Design wise, the Eee PC 1001HA looks like it’s sporting a textured lid design. It will be available in black and white color.

Now here’s the clincher and could determine whether you would want to get this netbook now – it will ship within 3 months upon order. Now that’s too long to wait.

We all know what it means when an upcoming product starts showing up on it’s mother company’s global site, right? It means that product is now being prepared for international launch. Well, that seems to be the case for the new Eee PC 1001HA which we covered recently.

The Eee PC 1001HA is now appearing on the Asus global site. This new member of the Eee PC Seashell family looks like a toned down version of the Eee PC 1005HA. It’s features and specs speak well of what this new netbook can bring when it comes out.

• 10.1-inch 1024×600 display
• 1.6GHz Intel Atom CPU
• 1GB of RAM
• 160GB HDD
• Wi-Fi 802.1 b/g/n
• 0.3MP webcam
• 3 USB ports
• Windows XP or Linux OS
• 3 cell/6 cell battery.

Asus Italy is offering discounted prices of some Eee PC models to students.  The promotion is open to all students in high schools and universities. To avail of the promo, students must register at www.asusworld.it Once registered, you must then choose which discount program you want to avail off.

When these are settled, you can now check which among the Asus products you want to purchase.  Those marked with a pencil on the list are eligible for the discount.

Currently, the Eee PC 1005HA and 1001HA are included in the list. There are even several variant colors of these Eee PCs which are currently available. Although I’m not really sure whether the price that appears is already the discounted price because I can’t register on the site.

Following up our earlier coverage of the Eee PC 1001HA Seashell, we now have additional information about this netbook.  Based on a product page in a Chinese site so.pcpop.com, it looks like the Eee PC 1001HA will be available in 3 flavors. One with Windows XP OS, one with Linux and the other with no OS installed.

These Eee PC 1001HA models will now be known as follows – Eee PC 1001HA LX, 1001HA XP and 1001HA. Obviously the last model is the one with no OS installed.
