Asus Italy is offering discounted prices of some Eee PC models to students. The promotion is open to all students in high schools and universities. To avail of the promo, students must register at www.asusworld.it Once registered, you must then choose which discount program you want to avail off.
When these are settled, you can now check which among the Asus products you want to purchase. Those marked with a pencil on the list are eligible for the discount.
Currently, the Eee PC 1005HA and 1001HA are included in the list. There are even several variant colors of these Eee PCs which are currently available. Although I’m not really sure whether the price that appears is already the discounted price because I can’t register on the site.
You know Jolicloud right? If you don’t well it’s a Linux based OS designed, well for netbooks of course. What’s interesting about Jolicloud is the fact that it focuses on cloud computing and social networking features.
Netbooked.com has loaded Jolicloud to an Eee PC 1005HA and is showing how it looks look via the video below.
They’ve also listed several pros and cons of running the OS to the Eee PC 1005HA. Some of the pros include – more real estate for maximized window, nice presentation of application store, excellent choice of hand-picked apps and more. While some of the cons listed include – some websites don’t work well, hardware compatibility issues, lack of support for GMA 500 netbooks and more. For the other pros and cons, check out netbooked.com.
So officially, how many color variants does the Eee PC 1005HA have right now? There’s white, black, blue and pink already available in the U.S. Somewhere in Europe, there was a Ruby Red Eee PC 1005HA. And if you still don’t like any of these color variants you might want to check out the latest color that appears to be available now – a silver Eee PC 1005HA.
I would have to admit that the silver-colored brush metal lid looks cool and reminds me of the MacBook Pro Unibody which I’ve been using for the past several days now. Anyway, if you fancy a silver Eee PC 1005HA, you might want to scout for one somewhere in Japan starting next month.
It retails for around $509 and is being previewed at this site.

Asus seems to have came out with a bestselling Eee PC again. If Amazon’s bestsellers in Computers and PC Hardware is any indication, the Eee PC 1005HA has topped the list occupying both 1 and 2 slot for the black and blue models.
The last time Amazon held this position was when the Eee PC 1000HE was released. And it held the spot for several months. Would the Eee PC 1005HA repeat the same feat for Asus? Only time can tell. But you can certainly make that happen if you buy the Eee PC 1005HA at Amazon.
If you haven’t decided yet, let me refresh you with the key specs of the Eee PC 1005HA – Intel Atom N280 1.66GHz CPU, 1GB RAM, 160GB HDD, Windows XP, and other standard netbook features. But of course the major feature of this netbook has got to be the 10.5 hours battery life. That is enough reason to get this netbook over its competitors.

If you failed to pre-order the Eee PC 1005HA when it was still available at Amazon, here’s another chance for you to grab this new Asus netbook as soon as it comes out. Newegg is now accepting pre-orders for the Eee PC 1005HA with a shipment date set on July 1, 2009.
Interestingly, while Amazon was offering the Eee PC 1005HA for $349.99, Newegg’s list price is a little bit higher at $399. Yeah I know, you must be telling yourself now that you’d rather pre-order from Amazon. Unfortunately, the Amazon pre-order page is no longer active. Searching the netbook on the Amazon site won’t yield any result either.
So, I guess that leaves you with no choice but to get from Newegg instead. Here’s the link if you want to do so. Or if you’re still not convince whether this new netbook is worthy of your bucks, here’s a quick rundown of its specs:
