Good news for computer game-enthusiasts! After the announcement held at Gamescom event several months later, Samsung finally introduced their newest gaming laptop named as Sens Series 7 in South Korea. Aside from the typical features of the notebook, the Sens Series 7 Gamer is having another variant of 3D visual feature to support the emerging fast-paced technology today.

This one comes with 17.3-inch LED screen with full HD resolution and 400-nit brightness to maintain the quality of graphics display. It’s outfitted with an Intel quad-core i7 CPU, AMD HD 697M GPU, Dolby- supported and has 8GB of RAM. The Samsung Sens Series 7 Gamer has backlit keyboard, Wi-Fi accessible and with Bluetooth 3.0.

This gaming laptop is created with jog dial that permits the users to choose from the different modes of preferred performance. Gaming, Balance Library and Green are some of these option forms. The 2D version (NT700G7A-S72D) costs 2,630,000 Won or approximately $2,342; while the 3D model (NT700G7A-S73D) priced at 2,870,000 Won or about $2,555. The Sens Series 7 is highly suggestive for hard-core gamers who want to play with high-quality computer games on a portable PC.

Apart from coming with what some people would like to call “Alienware tax” similar to that found in all Apple products, it seemed like the Alienware M11x was the perfect ultraportable if you were looking for performance. You could switch between integrated and discrete graphics, but there was one problem: you had to do it manually. With the introduction of NVIDIA’s auto-graphics switching Optimus technology, this problem is now a thing of the past.

The latest version of the Alienware M11x comes with this said feature which is sure to find its way to the hearts of gamers all over the world who happen to find their hands on the NVIDIA GT335M-equipped little notebook. The gang at Laptop Mag just dropped the verdict on the M11x with Optimus graphics, and they say it’s “an ultra-powerful and ultra-stylish PC you can take anywhere” overall. Check out their full review via the link below.

It is a well-known fact that netbooks suffer from having horrible performance when it comes to gaming, and even with developments such as NVIDIA’s ION graphics chip, gaming performance is still only passable at best. Is there any way to improve netbook gaming performance without giving up on the ultraportable platform altogether to settle for a more powerful full-sized laptop or desktop? Apparently, there is, as far as Steam games are concerned, and it involves getting down and a bit dirty with the program to enter a few commands.

To be able to optimize any netbook for Steam games like Half Life 2, Portal, and Counter-Strike: Source, you need only follow the steps enumerated in the Blogee forum thread that we’ve linked to below. You can do this right now as long as you have Steam installed, as well as a couple of games, of course. But know that this is not 100% guaranteed to allow users to play without causing a great deal of frustration. Still, anyone is free to perform the “mods” necessary for this trick and the worst that could possibly happen is that you’ll have to reinstall your Steam client. Check out the full instructions below.

NVIDIA’s newly introduced Optimus technology, which enables compatible notebooks to switch automatically between discrete and integrated graphics, should be present in at least 50 notebooks by mid-2010, according to NVIDIA. Asus is expected to launch a series of notebook models supporting NVIDIA’s Optimus technology, and these include the UL50Vf, N61Jv, N71Jv, N82Jv and U30Jc. With Optimus offering support for Atom N450 and N470 processors, it wouldn’t be surprising to see Asus and other netbook makers to launch new models supporting this technology as well. The full list of compatible processors and platforms are as follows: Intel Core i3, i5 and i7 (Arrandale), and Core 2 Duo (Penryn) processors, and Nvidia’s GeForce 200M and 300M-series GPUs and its Ion 2 platform. To see how something like NVIDIA’s Optimus technology could benefit netbooks and notebooks in general, see this hands-on video of the Alienware M11x.

Besides being able to browse the Web freely away from your desktop and dealing with small bits of office work on the go, netbooks offer mild convenience: light gaming. NVIDIA’s Ion graphics chipset makes netbooks viable gaming devices, and one such example is the Samsung N510. With its 11.6-inch screen, gaming is more pleasurable than on Sony’s PSP or Nintendo’s DSi. Above is a video of the Samsung N510 being used to play Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 at the lowest graphics settings and a resolution of 800×600. It may not be me fully high-definition gaming, but it certainly does look enjoyable. ION delivered a playable 20-30 (guesstimated average) frames per second, and acceptable graphics quality. Watch the video and see for yourself.

Since the Alienware M11x is already slated for a release in Japan, it only makes sense to see it sold in neighboring China as well. It will in due time, but for now, the little notebook that could game can be seen parading itself on Dell’s Chinese web site. Specs stay the same, and the M11x comes with an 11.6-inch screen, 4GB of RAM, and NVIDIA’s GeForce GT 335M GPU as standard. And thankfully, none of its other features have been subject to censorship. It should be released by next month.

The Alienware M11x, when we first saw it, seemed like the best alternative to a full-sized gaming laptop especially if you value portability. It’s scheduled for arrival in Japan on February, but folks in the U.S. will have to wait for another month to get their hands on it. It’s available for pre-order right now, though, right on Dell’s own web site.

It’s worth noting that the base price of $799 will only get you a base configuration which includes an Intel Pentium SU4100 processor, 2GB of dual channel DDR3 memory at 800MHz and a 160GB SATAII hard drive. Fortunately, the 1GB NVIDIA GeForce GT 335M exists in all configurations, so anyone who purchases the Alienware M11x will be able to enjoy somewhat high-end gaming on the go, upgrades or no upgrades.

It seems the Alienware mothership has chosen to land in Japan. The highly-anticipated (well anticipated by me at least) netbook is coming in this month to the Land of the Rising Sun. Here’s a spec refresher.

11.6″ 1366 x 768 screen

Intel CULV Core 2 Duo with switchable NVIDIA GT335M

1GB RAM

WiFi

VGA Port, Ethernet LAN, HDMI out, mini Firewire port, Displayport output

3 x USB, 2 x headphone and 1 x mic port, Multicard Reader

Backlit customizable keyboard

6-cell battery at 6.5 hours battery life for integrated graphics, 2.5 hours max if you use the graphics card.

Weight: around 4 lbs.

Colors: Black or Gray.

Even at the hefty US$799 price tag, the power packed by this device will definitely blow any other netbook out of the water and even gives some notebooks a run for their money. As I said before, this will make a decent replacement for a notebook if you care about power but don’t want the bulk.

Alienware is a brand that’s usually associated with high-end gaming. Their desktop systems and even their laptops are something to watch out for if you plan on giving yourself a high-end gaming experience. This is precisely why their upcoming M11x netbook should be on top of your list if you want to have the best in ultraportable gaming.

The sad thing is, to some people, Alienware translates to an astronomical price tag. Which is why it’s a bit surprising to find that the starting price of the Alienware M11x is going to be just $799 USD. Alienware itself reveals the price tag in its own M11x microsite, saying:

The Alienware M11x, with over 6.5 hours of battery life and weighing under 4.5 lbs. will start at an amazing $799! Leave it to the folks at Alienware to enable truly mobile performance gaming at an affordable price.

Well, it’s a bit steep for netbook price standards, but better graphics sure does come at a price now, doesn’t it?

Sure, you can play games on your netbook if you can stand the tiny screen and keyboard, tinny sounds (if on speakers) and lower framerate. There’s even a list compiled just for you. But if you’re into serious stuff, no one is more serious on gaming than Alienware.

While it looks like a netbook, the Alienware M11x packs some serious heat.

Intel CULV Core 2 Duo

11.6″ 1366 x 768 screen

Switchable NVIDIA GT335M

Weight: around 4 lbs.

Colors: Black or Gray.

That’s some beefy specs right there and you can play games at 30fps on 720P. It even has ports so you can output to a bigger LCD screen and the host of USB ports is just screaming for gaming peripherals. If you’re looking for a new notebook but don’t care for a big package, you might want to try this out. It’ll be available by March 2010 for under $1000, which means $999 basically.
