While the U2442N and U2442V are drawing their fair share of admirers, Gigabyte’s P2542G notebook is revealed to be experiencing a momentary bout of fame as well, though it is still un-priced and un-dated for availability.

The P2542G is a machine powered by an Intel quad-core Core i7 Ivy Bridge central processing unit. This is accompanied by up to 16 GB of DDR3 RAM and supplemented by NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660M discrete graphics with 2GB memory.

Speaking of video quality, the LCD measures 15.6 inches with LED backlighting. The native resolution is 1,920 x 1,080, or Full HD as it is more commonly known.

The rest of the specifications are on the same level as the others, especially where storage is concerned. Not only is there a hard disk drive unit (rotary speed of 7,200 RPM) or an SSD available, but even a Blu-ray drive is part of the spec list. Furthermore, buyers will find an HDMI output as well as two USB 3.0 ports, in addition to the regular VGA output, webcam, microphone and everything else.

Finally, Gigabyte chose to divide the air ducting for the CPU and GPU, which means that there are two air vents and two heatsinks. Presumably, this should keep the bottom of the notebook at a reasonable temperature during any game.

Gigabyte has finally unveiled two of its ultrabooks, the U2442N and U2442V. The company introduced them just a short time ago in Hannover, Germany, having secured a spot at this year’s CeBIT show. Like all ultrabooks, they are very thin mobile PCs with performance slightly higher than that of netbooks but lower or equal to that of standard notebooks.

The U2442N, the stronger of the two based on performance, uses standard voltage central processing units from the Intel Core i5 and Core i7 lines. Storage space is either a 750GB solid state drive (SSD) or a 750GB HDD (hard disk drive), depending on user’s value between speed and capacity. Furthermore, Gigabyte tossed in USB 3.0 support, Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi and an optional Thunderbolt port as well as a backlit keyboard.

The U2442V, as the less performance-focused, runs on either of the ultra-low voltage CPUs, Core i5 or Core i7, but share the same specs with the former.

Gigabyte chose to make its ultrabooks slightly larger than competing devices, with screens measuring 14 inches instead of 13.3. The native resolution is of 1,600 x 900 pixels, not exactly Full HD (1,920 x 1,080 pixels) but better than HD (1,366 x 768 pixels).

Unfortunately, Gigabyte did not say how long the two models are supposed to last on a single battery charge, so there’s no telling if the battery span of the U2442V is worth the performance sacrifices. Moreover, time of arrival and prices are completely unknown as well.

While Intel is positioning ultrabooks as premium ultraportable notebooks with reasonable price tags, another premium feature is currently an exception instead of a rule, the high resolution displays. Almost every ultrabook seen nowadays has a 1366 x 768 pixel display. Noetheless, Gigabyte’s upcoming U2442V ultrabook will have a 13.3 inch, 1600 x 900 pixel screen.

Gigabyte’s ultrabook isn’t that unique in this space since the Asus Zenbook UX31 has a similar display, so does the Sony Vaio Z and Sony Vaio S, though the latter is technically a bit chunky for an ultrabook. Still, the high resolution display should set Gigabyte U2442V apart from most of the competition. Gigabyte also plans to equip an NVIDIA GT640 discrete graphics card in to the device.

Gigabyte U2442V ultrabook is expected to launch with an Intel Ivy Bridge processor, which means the notebook should be on store shelves for a few more months. The machine uses hybrid storage which combines a large hard drive with a small amount of solid state storage. The notebook has 2 USB 3.0 ports, 2 USB 2.0 ports, HDMI and VGA output, and an SD card reader.

When the S1081 slate was first showcased at this year’s CES fair, Gigabyte didn’t reveal much of its specs, but recently all of these have been uncovered as the marker added the device to its website. This slate aims for business users, so the company use a full version of Windows 7 as the operating system of choice with a series of enterprise-class customizations.

Under the hood is the latest 1.86 GHz Atom N2800 processor, which includes two computing cores with Hyper-Threading support as well as Intel integrated graphics. This is paired with 2GB of system memory (can be upgraded to 4GB), while the company’s clients can choose from various HDD and SSD options with capacities of up to 500GB (256GB max for SSDs).

The rest of the features includes a front 1.3MP webcam, USB port, D-Sub and HDMI ports, a 1024×600 resolution LED backlit 10.1-inch capacitive touchscreen, dual 1.5W speakers, Gigabit Ethernet, 802.11 b/g/n WiFi, Bluetooth 3.0, optional 3G connectivity, and a 4000mAh battery.

Though specs have been revealed on this device, Gigabyte hasn’t provided any info regarding its pricing or availability of the S1081 slate.

Although a bit bulkier, they look like a regular netbook. However, the displays are attached to the base of the computer with a swivel rather than two hinges. This way, the screen can be rotated up to 180 degrees and it can be folded down over the keyboard to use the computer as a tablet.

The Gigabyte T1006 looks like a minor update to the company’s latest convertible.Looking at it closer, you will find out that the key difference is the Intel Atom Cedar Trail chip.

It’s not clear, though, which new Intel Atom processor the T1006 will have. The user manual suggests that the computer uses Intel GMA 3650 graphics.

Other specifications include:

Those Honeycomb tablets from Asus, Acer, Motorola and Samsung are looking mighty fine, but if you prefer to have an operating system that’s closer to the desktop than anything else, you might want to take a look at the Gigabyte S1080 tablet PC. Unlike some other tablets that have been announced and released in the market recently, the Gigabyte S1080 doesn’t run iOS or Android. Instead, it uses Windows 7. As you can imagine, using the Gigabyte S1080 would be like using a laptop without the keyboard. That is the very definition of a touchscreen equipped tablet computer, after all.

Although Gigabyte is better known in the desktop computing space as a producer of excellent and highly durable motherboards, they have set their foot on the tablet market to try and give users what they need: a real mobile computer with desktop grade programs instead of applications that usually can’t be used for real work. The innards of the Gigabyte S1080 contain an Intel Atom N570 dual core CPU and a 320GB hard drive. Its screen measures 10.1-inches diagonally and it weighs a hefty 895 grams. If the weight seems too much, this is because the Gigabyte S1080 uses a larger battery in order to power its Intel processor.

It is said that the Gigabyte S1080 will come out in the US and Taiwan soon, and the retail price is expected to hover around 700 Euros or about $1,000 USD. It’s a bit more expensive than other tablets you can buy, but then again, it’s just not the same as any of those other devices either.

We’re not sure why Gigabyte decided not to bring its new Gigabyte S1080 Windows 7 Slate at CES 2011. Instead, Gigabyte unveiled the said tablet in Taiwan. Anyway, in case you’re interested with a Windows 7-powered tablet well then you might want to check out the Gigabyte S1080 Slate.

Said Windows 7 Slate features a 10.1-inch screen and is powered by an Intel Atom N550 dual-core processor. According to Stephen Lee, Director at Gigabyte Notebooks, the S1080 Slate is the ultimate mobile device to fit the demanding needs of consumers who need a high-performing multitasking slate.

“With the S1080, users now have constant access to all their business needs including email, internet and other important applications.”

The Gigabyte S1080 Slate weighs in below 0.90kg, sports a sleek and light form factor, and comes packed with a 320GB built-in storage. It also supports USB 3.0, VGA port, and a capacitive multi-touch display with on-screen keyboard. Of course it also supports Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n and Bluetooth. Plus a built-in 1.3MP webcam should give your videoconferencing fix.

Release date in Taiwan is next month with a street price of around $300. Now, that’s reall something to look forward. Hopefully, Gigabyte decides to bring this to the international market.

The Gigabyte T1005M looks pretty much like any other 10 any netbook. That is until you see what it can really do. The Gigabyte T1005M is a convertible netbook, meaning the screen can be folded over, turning the T1005M netbook into the T1005M tablet. The screen features a capacitive multi touch display.

It comes with a 10.1 inch display but, unlike other netbooks on the market, it features a higher resolution of 1366×768 making many more apps much more compatible. Processor wise it features Intel’s dual core Atom processor, the 1.5GHz N550. The hard drive, RAM and other components are easily upgraded via easy access panels, which isn’t unknown for netbooks but, is an added bonus. We also see an eSata port on the T1005M as well as USB 3.0 ports. Another change from the norm, is that the touchpad buttons are on the left and right of the trackpad instead of underneath.

Who says you can’t have it all in single machine? How does a notebook that can not just be used as a tablet PC but a desktop as well sound to you? Believe it or not, there is such a product and it’s made by Gigabyte – the Booktop T1125.

The Gigabyte Booktop T1125 features an 11.6-inch touchscreen panel, Intel Core i5 or i3 ULV CPU, NVIDIA Optimus Technology, USB 3.0 ports, HDMI, THX-certification and four dual-channel stereo speakers.

You can use the Booktop T1125 as a standard notebook, a tablet PC, or a desktop via it’s own docking station. It looks good on pictures. We wonder how this actually performs.

The T1125 is scheduled to launch later in November with a suggested retail price of US$1,299.
