If you are looking for a solid aluminum 7-inch Android tablet that runs Honeycomb, then this must be your lucky day because the first Honeycomb RUU has been leaked out.

The HTC Flyer is a 7 inch tablet with a 1024 x 600 pixel display. It has a capacitive touch panel and an optional digital pen for writing or drawing. This tablet is one of the best built 7 inch tablets on the market and it’s the first to come with HTC Sense software running on top of Android. However, while other known Android tablets released this year were shipped with Android 3.0 Honeycomb or newer, the HTC Flyer is initially shipped with Google Android 2.3 Gingerbread — a version of the operating system designed for phones, not tablets.

Reports say that HTC wanted to spend more time with Honeycomb in order to customize its Sense software to play nicely with the tablet OS. But now we know that HTC will soon launch Jetstream, a 10 inch tablet that will come with Honeycomb and Sense. The Honeycomb update are reportedly be eventually for the Flyer as well.

At the time, it was thought that it was more of an experiment, rather than something they might actually release. However a netbook has hit the FCC by HP, which resembles the model shown off at CES. It’s confirmed that the netbook will feature a 1GHz Snapdragon processor. The netbook will also feature a 3G sim module and is hinted to be headed to AT&T.

If the Compaq AirLife 100 is the same netbook shown at CES and will come with Android, HP will have to make modifications to the OS, as Android was created for smartphones. Google Chrome is the netbook alternative but, a HP rep has said that Android has advantages over Chrome, specifically when it comes to touch screen support.

With all the releases HP has done during the CES, I guess they just had to make do with what they had to make their own smartbook mockup. The company demonstrated a mockup of a smartbook made from the same chassis as an HP Mini 110 with a few tweaks.

The prototype has a Qualcomm Snapdragon CPU and Google Android OS. It features a touchscreen as well some unique home and back buttons beside the trackpad. The trackpad itself is tweaked since Android doesn’t use cursors for its interface.

While HP doesn’t have plans to enter the smartbook market yet, the prototype does show that they are actively researching on opportunities and we hope it’s going to be thinner and smaller than what they showed off.

Earlier today we reported on the Skytone netbook which comes pre-installed with Google Android. The Skytone is the first netbook that comes with Android as the standard operating system, without any hacking required. The HP Mini 2133 and Eee PC 1000H have already been hacked to run Android and now another netbook follows in the Android OS hacking trend. The Pantum iBuddie is also capable of running Google’s operating system.

Specs of the netbook are pretty standard. It comes with a 10.2 inch screen, 1GB of RAM, Intel Atom N270 processor and a 160GB hard drive. GeunSik Lim, who hacked his iBuddie has uploaded a video of the netbook running Android which you can view below.

Microsoft’s Steve Ballmer recently spoke about his company’s plans for the future, and he quite nonchalantly revealed that they’re waiting for Google to release a netbook version of their currently for-smartphones-only Android mobile OS. Google’s Android already competes with Windows Mobile in the worldwide smartphone market, and if this happens, then the two companies will have yet another arena to fight each other to the death in. At the moment, Windows XP has succeeded in wiping out Linux from the netbook space little by little, but Android, although also open-source, is expected to be a different story. Google probably didn’t have making a netbook version of its OS in mind when it started out on Android, but companies like Asus have already confirmed that products with this open source operating system are already in the pipeline.
