The Hercules eCAFE 1000W is to become available at the end of October just after Windows 7 is released. The netbook will come with Windows 7 installed and have a starting price of $399. We’ve previously seen the Hercules 1000W on Amazon.de but it appears to be no longer available and is listed with Windows 7 instead of XP, so presumably it will also be back up for the end of October for European consumers.

The 1000W features a 10.1 inch display, Intel Atom N270 CPU, 1GB of RAM, pretty standard netbook specs. The hard drive is slightly larger than your average netbook, coming in at 250GB.

The netbook will also feature “eCAFE Update Manager” which amoung other things, will provide 50GB of online storage for free. Games and apps can also be downloaded via the Update Manager.

The eCafe Hercules is one of those netbooks that you’d probably not get  a chance to lay your hands on. This 8-inch netbook packs in some good features and specs, but nothing spectacular though.

Anyway here’s what we could get from the source as to the eCafe Hercules specs:

  • 500MGHz AMD Geode (LX 800) processor
  • 512 MB RAM upgradeable up 1.5GB
  • 8-inch monitor (1024×600)
  • Linux OS
  • 20 GB hard drive
  • Built-in sound card
  • Card reader
  • Webcam

The eCafe Hercules netbook will be available in Europe sometime in September with an SRP of around $441. No words yet as to whether this will be available in the US market. Although, we’re not counting on it. You’re best be if you’re interested to get this netbook is through the online. But that would shoot up your shipping costs. So, find a better alternative to this netbook.
