The Hivision PWS700CA is one of the best Android-powered devices that you’ve never heard of. For some reason, it’s being called a laptop by some people, but with its 7-inch 800×480 screen 720p screen I think it’s closer to being a netbook than its full-sized counterparts. Instead of using Intel’s new Atom processors, it utilizes a Rockchip RK2808 600mhz ARM926 processor, which appears to be adequate in powering it and its operating system: Android. The best part about this is that the Hivision PWS700CA may be sold for as low as $100 as ARMdevices.net speculates. That would surely bring down the price of a lot of other competing products, provided that the Hivision PWS700CA maintains its level of usability and ease of use shown in the video right after the break.

HiVision seem to have beaten their competitors to the race to produce a sub $100 laptop with their new model, the NB0700.

The HiVision NB0700 comes with either Windows CE or Linux, a 7″ screen (800 x 480 pixel resolution), 400MHz MIPS CPU, WiFi support, 1gb of solid state memory and a choice of either 64mb or 128mb of RAM. Connectivity is tied up with the inclusion of a SDHC card reader and 3 USB ports.

It may not be the quickest model in the world but, with a price of just $98, there probably won’t be all that many complaints about that.

Shenzhen HiVision have been ‘rumbled’ it seems. Engadget managed to grab a few photos of some “dodgy looking” netbooks that the Chinese manufacturer are producing.

According to Engadget, there are a variety of fake models on offer including a HP Mini Note look-a-like.

Fortunately, these “fakes” aren’t available outside of China right now, where they should sell very well and hopefully that’s how it will stay, if indeed they aren’t the genuine article.
