Hey, what’s this? Glad you asked – we’re puzzled by same thing. A tipster at HP just sneaked a puzzling teaser picture and video of the yet to be branded Spectre laptop. Yes, an impromptu lappie that appears to be HP’s next Ultrabook. At least according to the tipster, this rig should come with a dual-LCD setup – the same seen on Toshiba’s Libretto W100 or Acer’s Iconia-6120 – except maybe the engineers here were just inadvertently interested in making us see lots of glass panels. As usual we’ll be sourcing for more info (but there’s scant info of an official release portal that should shell later today or early tomorrow), but in the meantime, lose your mind for more pictures and a video on the source link provided below.

HP is now beating the laptop market through creating its own Pavilion dm4 Beats Edition in collaboration with the legendary artist and producer Dr. Dre and Beats co-founder Jimmy Lovine. HP formulated the Pavilion dm4 with unique sleek style that reflects the black and red Beats design.

The exceptional pavilion laptop version offers a 14-inch HD LED display with an AMD Radeon distinct and vivid graphics. With its backlit keyboard, HD built-in webcam and a fingerprint reader, the Pavilion dm4 Beats Edition is much more convenient to use. The soft-touch surface on the palm rest area provides a smooth, silky tangible experience for future users. In terms of audio resonance, the Beats Audio software aids in enhancing the bass performance in headphones making the sound features more pleasant to be heard.

If you’re looking for a notebook that would make you give a well-defined listening experience, then you could patiently wait for the coming of HP Pavilion dm4 Beats Edition. Since HP Pavilion dm4 will soon be ready to beat the U.S. market on 18th of December at a price approximately $899.99.

The Envy 15 and 17 both have the Radiance Infinity displays. However, the Envy 15 sports a 1366 x 768 resolutions while the Envy 17 a 1080p display. Nonetheless, when it comes to performance, the Envy 15 is equipped with Intel Core i5-2430M processor and is supported by 6 GB of DDR3 memory as well as 1GB of AMD Radeon graphics. Exact specification were not yet announced as for the model of graphics card installed.

On the other hand, Envy 15 storage is given by a 500GB (7,200 RPM) hard drive along with DVD drive. The Envy 15 also features an audio system that’s managed by six-channel speakers and a subwoofer provided by Beats. The Envy 17 standard edition also has the same specifications but a 3D Envy 17 model also has a full HD Radiance 3D 120Hz display, a pair of active shutter 3D glasses and a Blu-ray HD player.

The HP Envy series will be on stores on December 7, 2011, priced at $1,100 for the 15, $1,250 for the 17, and $1,599 for the 17 3D.

Shelling off Intel Atom, and while the pink adorned cover perhaps could appeal to a certain sex category, its island style covered keyboard is what you should expect the mighty to lay their hands on.

Well, considering color design we can’t say it really matches our tastes, but at least you’d be comfortable with the internals; and apparently identical to the recently reviewed Mini 210 HD (sans the Broadcom Crystal HD). But the Mini should sound great as it appears – HP’s improved Vivienne’s netbook running Beats by Dr. Dre audio software onboard, which currently is yet to be adopted by other companies.

The Atom processor accompanies a 1GB DDR3 RAM and support of 250GB SATA HDD storage, which lets you store lots of documents, photos, music and some videos as well. More, its battery life could take you 9.5 hours although excluding wireless time. While with reasonable wireless usage, expect around 7-8 hours running time. Whether that’s worth offering we live it up to you, but if you need a netbook that can unquestionably stream HD Flash content out, then you’re best looking at it right now.

Well, if you haven’t here it is. HP has just unveiled its 11.6-inch 3115m and it considers it a business set for all intents and functions; a rebadged Pavilion dm1z should only fit to a more buttoned-up sort of a customer. To begin with, you’d confuse it with the latest redesigned dm1, everything including flush trackpad. Powered by dual-core AMD E-450 APU, 11.6-inch 1366 x 768 display that is in full 720p HD, it also accompanies a chiclet keyboard, Beats Audio and a 6-cell battery rated for 11.5 hours on a full-charge come standard.

What’s more is that you get a modest 2GB of RAM, 320GB and 5,400RPM HDD. Strangely, 5,400RPM drives are as excellent as it gets here. IT guys would highly consider this machine – however, it accompanies HP’s Keyed Cable lock including Computrace Pro module used for tracking and distantly destroying lost or stolen laptops (you’ll have to activate this feature manually). I it should hit the shelves in Americas on November 11th (asking price $430 – a thirty-dollar premium compared to the dm1z).

According to a report, Acer Chairman JT Wang alleged that Microsoft software could soon effectively take on Apple. Perhaps the only challenge that persists at the moment for Microsoft’s Windows is the growth of Apple’s iOS on tablets (iPad), and smartphones (iPhone) – according to an editorial in Taipei-based Digitimes, which published Wang’s comments on Monday.

Citing Wang’s comments, Microsoft’s Windows “hasn’t had any achievements within these two markets that can help it gain share,” citing a decline in Netbook sales hence resulting in only “slim” growth in the conventional laptop market. Although the publisher didn’t detail on Wang’s point, we assume Wang was speaking about market intrusion by the iPad, for instance, on the Netbook as well as low-end laptop market.

Although, recent reports from Gartner indicate only meek growth in PC sales in 2011; the Acer Group was placed in the 4th position in world rankings in terms of PC sales in the third quarter, according to IDC.

According to Wang, Apple’s “notebook products are only minor drivers” for growth and pale citing to the exciting escalation seen in its iPads and iPhones. However, Windows 8 could change this. In a few coming years, Wang sees a rebirth of the Microsoft camp behind Windows 8 as Microsoft reacts more efficiently to “consumer demands,” according to the report. Expect to see Windows 8 by 2013.

The Windows 8 is anticipated to run on wider range of devices, including, smartphones, tablets, Ultrabook clamshell laptops (latter rivaling Apple’s MacBook Air) and tablet-laptop hybrids.

We can fairly decisively conclude we’ve finally entered a post-netbook time. And this Q2 2011 marks the first time we’ve witnessed netbbooks numbers being eclipsed by tablets, according to ABI Research – where global tablet sales increased to 13.6 million units, than that of 7.3 million netbooks. In fact, Netbooks surged 13% from their first quarter sales of 8.4 million netbooks, and, more significantly, tablet sales really shot up: clocking 6.4 million units in the first quarter of this year.

Cost seemingly isn’t a driving factor as earlier thought – according to the research firm; tablets still maintains an average price of $600 – almost double compared to their typically under-powered netbooks. Oh, by the way, did you know that of the 68% of tablets sold were of Cupertino’s flavor?

You might be familiar with the HP TouchPad, but are you aware of a little something from HP called the TouchPad Go? The TouchPad Go is essentially a scaled-down version of the HP TouchPad with much of the same features and was intended to be marketed towards business-oriented individuals. However, the HP TouchPad Go will never make it to market, and as such all we can do now is stand in awe at what it could have been based on the full specs as revealed by PreCentral.

Based on the reported full specs of the HP TouchPad Go, it might as well have been an Amazon Kindle Fire. A much more beefier version, even. The HP TouchPad Go features a 7-inch 1024×768 pixel IPS screen, a dual-core 1.5GHz CPU from Qualcomm, 1GB of on-device RAM, and Qualcomm’s Adreno 220 GPU. Other features include a 1.3 megapixel front-facing camera, 5-megapixel main camera with built-in LED flash, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth wireless connectivity, up to 32GB of internal storage, and 3G or 4G wireless configurations.

There’s so much more to love about the cancelled HP TouchPad Go that you have to ask: what did it ever do to HP to deserve getting canned?

If you bought your HP TouchPad before the recent price drop, then it’s likely you paid around £400 instead of £89. Which, for anyone who bought one just days before the price drop would be gutted. Fortunately though, HP have a refund program for those who purchased the TouchPad before the discontinuation announcement was made and activated before August 23rd August – which does mean bad luck to those who purchased from retailers after the announcement, expecting a refund once they adjusted the price to £89.

HP have said that “At HP we always think about you! The HP refund program is our way saying thank you for choosing HP webOS.” So if you bought and activated your HP TouchPad before August 23rd, here’s what you’re entitled to:

HP TouchPad 16GB – whatever you paid less £89
HP TouchPad 32GB – whatever you paid less £115
HP TouchPad 64GB – whatever you paid less £159
HP Pre 3 – whatever you paid less £69

This is only available in the UK and Northern Ireland and isn’t available to employees who used the employee purchasing program to buy theirs. Head on over to the HP refund program to get your refund, you’ll need a scanned invoice of your purchase, the serial number and your personal details.
