Following on from the announcement of the Dell Inspiron Mini 10, Engadget have posted up an a screen shot detailing more specifications of the Mini 10. According to the slide, the Mini 10 will come in six colors, Ice Blue, Gecko Green, New Cherry Red, Flamingo-go Pink, or more traditional netbook colors, Obsidian Black and Alpine White.

It also seems you’re able to choose between a 1.3GHz or 1.6GHz Intel Atom Z530 Silverhome processor as well as a choice between two screen resolutions. The netbook will be available with a slightly less than average resolution of 1024×576 or an improved 1366 x 768 resolution. A HDMI port is also to be included on the Mini 10 as well as GPS and a TV tuner. To make the most of these added specs, the netbook also appears to be released with a 3 cell battery or a 6 cell.

Unfortunately there’s still no information on a release date or price, let alone how much the upgraded specs will cost, but we’ll keep you informed.

Dell has just introduced a follow-up to the Inspiron Mini 9, this time with a 12-inch display screen – the Dell Inspiron Mini 12. Before you even think that the 12-inch screen size is enough reason to categorize this netbook into an ultraportable standard notebook, think again, because despite its big screen by netbook standard, the Inspiron Mini 12’s other specs still belong to the netbook family.

The Dell Inspiron Mini 12 will have the following specs:

  • 12.1-inch WXGA display (1280×800 resolution)
  • Intel Atom Processor
  • 1GB RAM
  • Choice of 60GB or 80GB Hard Drive
  • Built-in Bluetooth and 802.11 b/g wireless
  • 2.72 lbs, 0.92-inches thick
  • Windows Vista OS

The Dell Inspiron Mini 12 will also offer support and access to Dell’s after sales services such as; Dell support Center, DellConnect Remote Assistance, DellDock software.

Although available now for retail in Japan, the Dell Inspiron Mini 12 will most likely hit online stores sometime in November.

And guess how much this netbook baby will retail? Just around $600. Definitely cheaper than the Eee PC S101.

We really don’t know what came over the people at Dell which is reported to be preparing to release an all-black version of its recently released Inspiron Mini-9, to the UK market. What is so interesting about this new version of the Inspiron Mini 9 is the fact that Dell will be releasing it as the Vostro A90. The Vostro A90 is being aimed at small businesses, hence the need to rebrand it as such.

While UK pricing and release date in the UK market is yet to be announced, the new Inspiron Mini 9 aka Vostro A90 was in fact already launched in Japan and will retail for a whooping $972. It’s definitely a steep price considering that you would get the same specs that include; 1.6GHz Intel Atom N270 processor, 8.9-inch 1024×600 display, a 1GB of RAM, 8GB of SSD and other features of the Inspiron  Mini 9. The Inspiron Mini 9 retails for only around $465.

I wonder how many would get the same spec’d machine as the Inspiron Mini 9 for a more expensive price, wherein fact the only difference is the price and the color design?

Don’t you think that this is a bad move for Dell?
