According to asuseeehacks, Jointech will announce the impending arrival of their new JL7200 netbook (or mini-laptop as Jointech label it) at the upcoming Hong Kong Electronics Fair.

The JL7200 is based on the Jointech J-Pro JL7100, a $99 ‘netbook of sorts’ that runs Windows CE with a 7 inch screen, 64MB of memory and has a 400MHz processor but, the JL7200 has the addition of WiFi which was sadly a missing feature on the ‘cheap as chips’ JL7100 and is expected to cost around $299 retail and $125 wholesale.

When Microsoft announced several days ago that it will continue to sell Windows XP specifically to answer the needs of the low-cost laptops, we knew then that Microsoft is up for something more. And it looks like Information Week’s posts may be the reason why. IW posted that Microsoft has partnered with India’s HCL Infosystems to work on the “world’s cheapest laptop” called MiLeap H Series.

The MiLeap H Series will feature a 30GB hard drive, broadband ready and will sell for around $425. and of course the new laptop will run Windows XP, home version.

The MiLeap H Series will be released to the Indian market as Microsoft’s way of empowering  Indian consumers and businesses with the latest and best that technology has to offer

No other details are available about the MiLeap H Series. This could probably go in the same line as the OLPC XO.

An intriguing ‘laptop’ has appeared on the web today, and it is anything but standard. This new machine, lacking specs or the makers name, is made of a couple pen-shaped devices.

The machine operates via a couple of thin ‘pens’ that are Bluetooth enabled. These devices project the screen and keyboard onto any flat surfaces.

There’s no other features listed, no other information at all. There is one picture of the person who is presumed to be the created, but nothing is official.

It will be interesting to see if anything comes of this design.
