AMD is optimistic to bring down Intel’s Ultrabooks on cost and June is where AMD will take advantage to launch, a platform for slim and light laptops (Ultrathin), actually the company mentioned this during CES 2012.

The present production of Intel Ultrabooks retails at $900 up, including some models, like the HP Envy 14, shipping at $1,400. Intel anticipates about seventy fresh Ultrabooks models this year in addition to its next-generation Ivy Bridge platform is also anticipated, it should ship by April; and this will bring down the price of Ultrabooks somewhere between $700 and $900, actually – introducing lightweight and skinny laptops into the mainstream.

AMD’s thin laptops (Ultrabooks phrase is trademarked by Intel) will make use of the company’s Trinity chips, sporting in dual- and quad-core alternatives. AMD’s chips lean to be valued lower compared to Intel’s, with ultrathin laptops appears to be no exception. Asking price for Trinity laptops is roughly from $500, up to $200 less costly than the estimated standard price of an Intel Ultrabook.

As of performance, AMD alleges its Trinity chips pencil in roughly 17 watts of power, more or less the same compared to the upcoming Ultrabook chips found on Intel’s Ivy Bridge microarchitecture. Expect Trinity chips to deliver similar performance AMD’s A-series chips presently used in standard laptops, although eats half the power.

According to Digitimes, we won’t see many models emerging as AMD-powered ultrathin laptops compared to Intel’s Ultrabooks. Just around twenty ultrathin pieces are likely for 2012, with Acer, HP and Asus showing signs of first producers of such laptops.

Hey, what’s this? Glad you asked – we’re puzzled by same thing. A tipster at HP just sneaked a puzzling teaser picture and video of the yet to be branded Spectre laptop. Yes, an impromptu lappie that appears to be HP’s next Ultrabook. At least according to the tipster, this rig should come with a dual-LCD setup – the same seen on Toshiba’s Libretto W100 or Acer’s Iconia-6120 – except maybe the engineers here were just inadvertently interested in making us see lots of glass panels. As usual we’ll be sourcing for more info (but there’s scant info of an official release portal that should shell later today or early tomorrow), but in the meantime, lose your mind for more pictures and a video on the source link provided below.

Being the beast that it has always been, the retail kingpin hands PC manufactures a wishlist of specs on board; design as usual flourishes, and at assertive price points – including the guarantee of selling a finished machine exclusively.

Toshiba Satellite P745-S4320), a typical laptop, suggests itself with profusion of must-have features: A fast Core i5 CPU, Blu-ray player, USB 3.0 interface, and WiDi 2.0 wireless and WiMAX features. But if you’ve never used wireless options and Blu-ray player and they don’t seem important to you, you’re better off flouncing at cheaper laptops.

Plastic inclusions have basically been withdrawn by mainstream laptop makers to pave way for sleeker aluminum chassis—however, Toshiba hasn’t wedged on to the drift. The P745-S4320 cloths a textured lid including wrist rest –adding that to “Fusion X2 Platinum” finish, yea right! But not really my style, but could work – ask the IT gurus.

The entire chassis would put around 4.85 pounds in your lap, rendering it as a middle-weight considering 14-inch category; and you’ll realize this from the contrasting weights among the Dell Inspiron 14z (Core i5) ($750 direct, 4 stars) (4.5 pounds), Sony VAIO VPC-EG27FM/W ($779.99, 3.5 stars) (5.1 pounds) and Asus U46E-BAL6 ($899.99, 4 stars) (4.9 pounds).

Well, if you haven’t here it is. HP has just unveiled its 11.6-inch 3115m and it considers it a business set for all intents and functions; a rebadged Pavilion dm1z should only fit to a more buttoned-up sort of a customer. To begin with, you’d confuse it with the latest redesigned dm1, everything including flush trackpad. Powered by dual-core AMD E-450 APU, 11.6-inch 1366 x 768 display that is in full 720p HD, it also accompanies a chiclet keyboard, Beats Audio and a 6-cell battery rated for 11.5 hours on a full-charge come standard.

What’s more is that you get a modest 2GB of RAM, 320GB and 5,400RPM HDD. Strangely, 5,400RPM drives are as excellent as it gets here. IT guys would highly consider this machine – however, it accompanies HP’s Keyed Cable lock including Computrace Pro module used for tracking and distantly destroying lost or stolen laptops (you’ll have to activate this feature manually). I it should hit the shelves in Americas on November 11th (asking price $430 – a thirty-dollar premium compared to the dm1z).

It was perhaps big enough to fit a whole telephone number – live alone a text message or a contact name. What about your smartphone? Whether displaying leveled-down, WAP versions of web page was asking too much. Now, such handsets we couldn’t live without, and even sometimes, still, we surreptitiously wish they had bigger displays. Ultra-thin and lightweight laptops seek to feature even higher resolution displays come next year: Super-sharp “retina-quality” displays.

So, hold that bulk you intend to spend on a laptop for a few weeks to get these Ultrabooks. VR Zone confirmed that beginning next year, when Ultrabooks housing Intel’s latest tech Ivy Bridge processor land, we can anticipate to see their 13.3-inch or 15.6-inch displays running resolutions as high as 2560 pixels by 1440 pixels – similar to the Apple’s iPad 2 resolution (1024 pixels by 768 pixels).

This sketch graph availed at the Intel Developer Forum a few weeks ago implies Intel is trying to copy the iPhone’s fashionable Retina display in providing a screen with that kind of pixel density even the human eye can’t differentiate individual pixels. Meaning, Ultrabooks could soon get smartphone-quality screens. In fact, this week Asus alleged that its 13.3-inch Zenbook UX31 brags a stunning high-resolution display (1600 pixels by 900 pixels); higher compared to both the Ultrabook Acer Aspire S3-951 and the MacBook Air.

But for those who need extremely high resolution display, they’ll have to wait about six months for such Ultrabooks to land.

It sports a striking metal design along with a fast Core i5 performance which is just about everything one needs to have a fast and high performance laptop. The machine, weighing just about 4.4 pounds boasts of an excellent webcam and instant-on mode for getting online in a hurry. The dm4 is quite similar to its predecessor in thickness and weight though it has a few changes. The surface is now mostly smooth, with the exception of some artful etchings that stretch across the lid and are mirrored on the palm rest (the dm3, in contrast, has a smooth lid and brushed palm rest). HP also made sure that the touchpad and the indented area surrounding the keyboard all have gently rounded edges, a subtle, but nice, touch.

Keeping the champagne color apart, the new DM4 looks somewhat similar to the Apple’s MacBook Pro line with its black iron styled keyboard and having integrated multimedia buttons and integrating them with the track pad. The dm4 has a chic let-style keyboard that’s easy to type on. The system’s right Shift key is a tad bit smaller than the left one although it does not pose a problem while typing quotations or question marks without looking. The touchpad is fairly large (3.5 x 1.5 inches), which is pretty impressive and the left and right integrated buttons make a satisfying clicking sound when pressed. Dm4 is better than the Dm3 in the sense that the soft touch surface on the dm4 is easier to navigate on compared to the hard mirrored mess of the dm3. But one drawback is that the touchpad is a bit frustrating. It still exhibits a certain drag, which makes it feel a bit slower than it actually is while trying to do things like jumping between browser tabs. It’s the main reason which prevents the dm4 from getting a high rating.

It is a new 15-inch model with rippled surface design.

It is a new model of Sony E series that has an unusual design. It is based on rippling surfaces. This notebook looks best in black. It is designed for a universal outlook and is made suitable for Internet and office use and as well as for watching videos or playing games in it.

COMPONENTS:

It has an Intel Core i32310M processor. This is an entry-level processor designed by Sandy Bridge generation. It is accompanied by 4 GB DDR3 RAM and a 500 GB hard drive. This notebook also has a dedicated graphics card by Nvidia, the Geforce 410M. This memory card has 1024 of video memory. It also has a 1.5-inch HD screen with a high glossy look that can display a resolution of 1366 X 768 pixels

STRUCTURE:

The honeycomb pattern of the model catches one’s attention immediately. If this model is help up to the light the surface shimmers because of its glossy look. But there is no question of fingerprints or dust marks on the body. The body is well built. The white display lid is easy to open. The big plus of this model is that the display stays in the desired position even if it is adjusted. Its base unit seems to be just a robust. It is also accompanied by a well built laptoo which matches the design of the notebook and also has recessed touch pad in the palm rest area.

It has four USB ports of 2.0 type. There are two ports for controlling external monitors, an HDMI and a VGA port as well on the left hand side. On the right hand side a DVD burner is placed for recording dual-layer media. It also has a RJ45 Gigabit LAN port, two audio ports and two cared readers as well on the front side.

KEYBOARD:

The keyboard takes the whole length of the keyboard and includes a separate number block. The keys are well spaced and easy to use. Typing on it is a very pleasant experience. Above the keyboard there are three special function keys. One activates the Quickweb while the laptop is switched off. The key named VAIO starts up the Media Gallery and the third one mared as Assist starts Vaio Care 6.4.

Below the keyboard is the touch pad. It supports multi-touch input and gestures. Working on the touch pad is convenient. Below the touch pad there are two muttons which represent the two mouse clicks.

WARRANTY:

It has a 12-month warranty that can be extended with the Vaio Warranty Extension.

Lenovo manufactures, markets, and sells a variety of products including Lenovo ThinkCentre desktops, Lenovo IdeaCentre desktops, Lenovo ThinkStation workstations and Lenovo ThinkPad tablets and desktops. Lenovo has come up with a really budget notebook with the Z570 with a 15.6 inch display. It boasts of a Intel Core i5-2410M processor along with a 4GB DDR3 RAM (2x 2GB sticks), 750GB hard disk drive, 15.6 inch display, Blue-ray drive and Intel HD 3000 graphics. Also it has a stylish appearance with a piano black finish. It possesses a metallic palm rest and a large textured touchpad. Though the build quality does not match up to the standards of the Lenovo Y-series and far from the Thinkpad series (X200, X220 etc) still it’s pretty okay considering the price in which it is offered. The hinges feel quite strong and the 15.6 inches display has a nice glossy finish with 1366 x 768 resolutions. It is desirable that Lenovo should improve the resolution to 1600 x 900 or something as this was something users did not like about its predecessor, Lenovo Z560. The Z570 contains a lot of ports. It comes with a 3x USB 2.0 ports (including eSATA), LAN port, VGA, HDMI, SDHC card slot and Express card slot. There is also a wireless on / off switch on the front of the unit. It contains a island styled keyboard and has shaped keys that that makes it easy to centre the finger tips while typing. It feels great and comfortable to type on and has no signs of flex which offers a wonderful typing experience. It takes the help of synaptic touchpad with full support of multi touch gestures. The mouse buttons have a nice travel and soft feedback. The processor is powerful enough to handle 2 cores and 4 threads at the same time. Intel HD 3000 supports the graphics department. Only one thing which the laptop lacks is the USB 3 and one of the four USB 2 ports doubles as an eSATA connection. The IdeaPad Z570 cannot be too much criticized for the monetary part. Even today the USB 3 is yet to come into the market to make itself in demand and when one is offered a complete package with Blu-ray and switchable graphics for only £650, it’s hard to be anything other than impressed.

Reports from a recent study indicate that consumers are choosing 14 and 15 inch notebooks over ultraportable devices. The most affected however, seems to be 13 inch notebooks. MSI are no longer offering their X360, which features a 13 inch display, while Lenovo will stop making the ThinkPad X300, another notebook that sports a 13 inch display.

Ultraportable machines have their advantages over larger notebooks, such as the portability factor with regards to weight and bulk but, the average 15 inch notebook also has a shorter battery life of about 100 minutes, than the average 13 inch notebook. However some consumers regard smaller devices as having less power, while 15 inch notebooks come with more powerful CPUs and will replicate a desktop experience more. It’s not all down to the way consumers see things however, manufacturers also offer a more competitive price on the 15 inch panels, than they do for smaller displays. Could ultraportables be on the way out? While Lenovo and MSI have given up on their 13 inch devices, netbooks and tablets are still very popular, with more devices being announced all the time.

Chippy of UMPC Portal posted a very compelling piece about how the Internet basically split into two, the ‘full’ Internet and the mobile Internet. It’s an informative read for any mobile warrior and the article touches on how access to the Web has changed over the years.

Basically, the mobile ‘Net was just a subset of the full desktop Internet experience. Now, always-on handheld devices are displaying features not available with regular desktops. While laptops and desktops offer larger screen real estate, better performance and customization as well as access to more tools like Flash, FTP and 3D engines. Mobile devices on the other hand are location-aware (GPS), a touch-friendly and often have speedy interfaces.

Try as manufacturers may to enhance and integrate the features of one set of these devices with the other, they haven’t succeeded in doing so. Device makers are still trying their best to merge the mobile and full Internet experiences with the whirlwind of new gadgets being introduced recently like smartbooks, tablets and others. Maybe this year they’ll finally crack it but in the mean time, you will need to have both sets of device to enjoy the ‘full’ Internet.
