It’s not a $200 OLPC XO Laptop, but Dell is nonetheless marketing its new Latitude 2100 Netbook for school use. We’ve told you about the Dell Latitude Netbook as early as March, but just when we thought we might have forgotten about it already, here comes Dell suddenly making the Latitude 2100.

Like any normal netbook, the Dell Latitude sports the familiar Intel Atom CPU, 1GB RAM, Windows XP and the rest.

But what makes this Dell netbook is the fact that it has thicker chassis and heavier body. It also has a semi-rugged feel and a rubberized cover plus anti-microbial keyboard. All in preparation for the rigorous use it will experience in the hands of its target users – school children.

In addition to this, the Dell Latitude 2100 will also come with optional touch screen features, something was a default feature of its closest rival the Intel Classmate Convertible PC.

Other features of the Dell 2100 netbook include, network activity light, an optional rolling storage cart which students can use as a docking station for the netbook. What’s so peculiar about this docking station is the fact it recharges the 2100 netbook as well as updated via LAN by the school IT support.

The Dell Latitude 2100 retails for $369.
