Alienware is a brand that’s usually associated with high-end gaming. Their desktop systems and even their laptops are something to watch out for if you plan on giving yourself a high-end gaming experience. This is precisely why their upcoming M11x netbook should be on top of your list if you want to have the best in ultraportable gaming.

The sad thing is, to some people, Alienware translates to an astronomical price tag. Which is why it’s a bit surprising to find that the starting price of the Alienware M11x is going to be just $799 USD. Alienware itself reveals the price tag in its own M11x microsite, saying:

The Alienware M11x, with over 6.5 hours of battery life and weighing under 4.5 lbs. will start at an amazing $799! Leave it to the folks at Alienware to enable truly mobile performance gaming at an affordable price.

Well, it’s a bit steep for netbook price standards, but better graphics sure does come at a price now, doesn’t it?

While we’ve already known for a while that Verizon Wireless is planning to launch subsidized WWAN-equipped netbooks (which might include the HP Mini 1000), there still no info on an exact launch date, let alone a final price. So those of you under Verizon who are looking forward to learning more about this may be eager to hear the news I have for you now. According to a leaked internal document, Verizon is going to hold a netbook webinar which will brief employees that managers all about these devices we all know and love as netbooks. It came from an Anonymous source, but it looks pretty legit if you ask us. Though the internal document itself doesn’t indicate a launch date, it could very well be soon. We’ll be updating with more info as we get it.

Back in July of last year, Michael Arrington of TechCrunch proposed that a “dead simple Web tablet” be built for about $200 so he can surf the Web and do other lightweight tasks like send instant messages and make quick calls with Skype on the go. Fast forward to April 2009 and this concept for a cheap mobile Internet device looks like it’s closer to becoming a reality than most people are willing to think. While some might say that the TechCrunch Tablet (a.k.a. the “CrunchPad”) is nothing but vaporware that will never see the light of day, these photos (along with several others) prove otherwise.

Pictured above is a new prototype of the CrunchPad that touts a 12-inch capacitive screen, Intel Atom processor, a custom WebKit-based browser and pretty much all of the specs that were first considered at the product’s conception. Michael Arrington is careful to note that they are still not ready to launch this device and they can’t put the pin on a price point, but whenever they’re ready, I think we just might see another revolution in the computer industry. Or maybe not. Either way, this seems like an interesting product, and I can’t wait to try it out.
