Despite this, they still recommend it as a good travel computer and if you’re looking to buy one, the Japanese version is the best bet with the 2.0GHz processor and WiMAX.
Okay, enough of the lame rhymes. :) If you’re not familiar with the Lifebook, this was actually one of the precursors of the netbook and was an ultrasmall mobile PC with a touchscreen and a keyboard all in one tiny package.

That UMPC was no mobile phone but was able to connect via wireless. The Bphone though has aspirations of replacing your cellphone with its phone features bundled in a not-so-handy netbook package. I’m wondering how would you answer calls with this without a headset, place the screen by your face? That would be like talking on your Kindle.

The unit has a 5″ display swivel touchscreen, keyboard with a trackball built-in and a few ports for earphones, SD, USB, etc. It also has WiFi, video player and other netbook staples on top of a custom OS. Check out the videos on the links below.

Fujitsu’s latest addition to its LifeBook range of mobile computing devices bears very little semblance to your average netbook. Why am I not surprised? Would-be netbooks these days are more ‘laptop’ or ‘smartbook’ than anything else. The Fujitsu LifeBook UH900 would probably fall into the smartbook category. It sports a WXGA resolution screen (1366×768) on a 5.6-inch display. Now, read that again in case you missed the part where you’re supposed to say, “What? Are they insane?!”

Yeah, it looks like they pretty much are, or at least they intend to drive a few people insane with that mind-boggling combo of screen size and resolution that’s even crazier than what the Sony Vaio P came with. The screen will support multi-touch input, by the way, and other features include an Intel Atom Z530 processor, SSD storage, 3.5G and Bluetooth wireless connectivity.

UMTS and non-UMTS versions of the Fujitsu LifeBook UH900 will be introduced starting January of next year. It will be available in Mocha Black, Fiery Red and Vintage Gold. Fujitsu’s mum about its price at the moment, but you can expect it to be a bit more expensive than your ‘average’ netbook due to it having a multi-touch, high-res screen, SSD storage and a range of wireless features.

Fujitsu have announced two more products to the LifeBook range. Both the P3010 and P3110 feature an 11.6 inch display, multi touch trackpads and run Windows 7. Like the MacBook Air they will be able to share a DVD drive from the local network, to burn or read disks which is a tad more useful on these netbooks as they don’t include an optical drive.

The P3110 features an Intel Pentium processor while the P3010 will feature an AMD AthlonTN processor. Information on release date and pricing is currently unknown. We do know however, that each netbook will come in several colors. The P3010 will come in black or red, where as the P3110 is available in both these colors and silver.

The Fujitsu Lifebook U2010 UMPC was first announced with a 1.6GHz Intel Atom Z530 processor last year, but now it’s also available with a 2GH Intel Atom Z550 processor, which should boost the performance a bit, though whether it is worth it or not is still in question. The rest of the specs are still the same–there’s a 5.6-inch convertible touchscreen display, 1GB of RAM and up to 120GB storage. The slight upgrade to 2GHz on a Z550 chip requires a buyer to add $383 to the overall purchase price, so I’m not counting on this “feature” to catch on any time soon.

Although Fujitsu’s Lifebook FMV Biblio UB50 pales in comparison with the size of any regular netbook s around, it still is worthy of a second look. For one, the FMV Biblio UB50 is the tiniest and most stylish Atom-based UMPC around. Specifically, it’s the 1.6GHz Atom Z530 Silverthorne chip designed for MIDs (Mobile Internet Devices).

The best thing about the FMV Biblio UB50 is the fact that it can run Vista with its 1GB RAM on board. Now, that’s something to brag about indeed.

Anyway, here are the specs of Fujitsu’s Lifebook FMV Biblio UB50:

5.6-inch display (1280×800)

integrated webcam

1.6GHz Atom Z530 Silverthorne chip

Wi-Fi

Bluetooth

3G network capability

HDMI port

2900 mAh battery

562g

The Fujitsu Lifebook FMV Biblio UB50 will be release anytime soon in the Japanese market. We’re hoping that it will get an international release as well.
