hackintosh-netbook-osx-10.6.2
With the recent update from Apple for Mac OS X 10.6.2 Snow Leopard, it prevented netbooks from running the Operating System. Users with hackintosh netbooks were advised to not update in order to continue running Snow Leopard. Thankfully a patch has now been released allowing hackintosh users to update their machines. The patch has been posted over at the InsanelyMac forums and has been tested over the past week and confirmed working. MacObserver also note, that when an update is released from Apple, it’s wise not to upgrade immediately but, rather wait for a patch to come out.

Steven Sande from The Unofficial Apple Weblog has posted up the steps he took to install OS X on a Dell Mini Inspiron and it’s an interesting, comprehensive guide for anyone with a desire to use the Apple operating system on their Dell netbook which however, as the guide states, clearly violates the licensing agreement stating you must use OS X on Apple products only.

OS X doesn’t run perfectly on the Mini Inspiron, there are a number of driver issues, ethernet doesn’t work and sleep mode doesn’t work either but, if you can cope with those problems, this guide will help you through the whole process of installing the OS.

Florian, a member on the German MSI Wind forums, has created a “fake” Apple Mac netbook using his MSI Wind.

To create the final design, a Dremel was needed as well as six white LEDs. Paper, tape and aluminum foil also seem to be necessary with those holding everything in place inside.

Florian then went a step further with this project. He’s created a spoof ad for the MacBook Mini which you can check out below.
