If you’ve always wanted a touchscreen monitor but were afraid to gut out your netbook, Pen And Free has a solution for you via the Duo for Laptop. It’s a clip-on device paired to a pen to turn your netbook into a tablet, though you don’t get to swivel it into a real tablet without a mod.

Eeeuser member Cms has done them one better by modding his Asus Eee PC 1000HE and putting inside the messy USB plug of the Duo for a classier tablet experience. I especially like the way he put it on the side for symmetry with the pen holder and for easier book reading plus the awesome skin and OS he’s got. More pics here plus I think he also added a GPS device in there.

She’s showed thousands of people, through her blog, how to take apart the said netbook, upgrade the SSD to a higher capacity hard drive, add Bluetooth, and built-in 3G. Now, tnkgrl has posted her very last Acer Aspire One mod tutorial — how to add an eSATA port. True, not many people will be able to make use of it, and in fact maybe some won’t be familiar with it at all, but it’s a far more efficient and better way of connecting hard drives to computers than USB or FireWire. I know one person who’s way cooler than you are: the revolvingdork. Why? What could be more cooler than being able to laser-etch the entire level maps of Super Mario Land from the Gameboy onto an Asus Eee PC? That’s right, probably nothing you’ve ever done. It’s either that, and his coolness is of epic proportions, or he’s just got way too much time on his hands. We’re not kidding, Super Mario Land’s maps were really laser-etched directly onto the Asus Eee PC, and here’s a pic to prove it. You can view more of the photos at the Flickr page linked below. Now, when’s that Donkey Kong on the SNES version of this coming?
