Bucking the trend set firstly by Asus and subsequently by Lenovo, Dell, HP and the like, Panasonic have officially stated that they will not produce a netbook.
Toshi Harada, a spokesman for Panasonic explained to press when asked if Panasonic were considering producing one of the popular small notebooks:
“Many people have asked us the same question. We’re focused on corporate rather than consumer needs, and performance is too low to work with office documents or other applications. The key pitch (the distance between the keys) is only 15.5mm, which is too difficult to use compared to the 17mm on regular notebooks.”
