Acer has just started selling its latest nettop based on AMD’s high-end Brazos APU for $329.99, or 251 EUR. The new Revo RL70 bears a strong resemblance to the rest of the company’s nettops, but this time it received a somewhat more refined design that won’t make it feel out of place in the leaving room, near your HDTV.

The Revo RL70 runs on AMD E-450 accelerated processing unit, which sports dual Bobcat x86 processing cores clocked at 1.65GHz. Its graphics capabilities, on the other hand, is driven by Radeon HD 6320, featuring some impressive multimedia capabilities. It also comes with a 500GB hard drive, together with 2GB of DDR3 system memory.

Despite its small size, the Acer nettop comes with a range of ports and connectors, including audio jacks, four rear USB 2.0 ports, two frontal USB 2.0 ports, Gigabit Ethernet, as well as VGA and HDMI video outputs. A multi-format card reader, WiFi connectivity and an S/PDIF audio output is also included to the specs list.

If these specs are to good for home use, the E-450 powered Revo RL70 is now available on Amazon for $329.99 (251 EUR). The Acer Revo RL70 system also comes with a keyboard and mouse, so everything you need is included inside the box.

Announced just a little over a month ago, the Acer AspireRevo is going to be one of the hottest nettops around for quite a while, what with it being the world’s first one rocking NVIDIA Ion graphics on board and all. This small nettop is going to be Acer’s bet against the likes of the Asus EeeBOX, offering advanced graphics and multimedia features that make it a great home theater PC. I kept this in mind while testing the Acer AspireRevo earlier at an Acer event, trying to see if it really delivered on what Acer is promising on paper. Well, what I’ve gathered is very positive so far, that I think I can safely say even Asus won’t be able to offer any competition.
What’s the best way to see if a gadget you’re about to buy (when it finally comes out) is best suited for your tastes? Look for a review of it online. The Acer AspireRevo is one such upcoming gadget that I’m sure a lot of people are looking forward to (myself included). Well, guess what, this little Ion-infused nettop from Acer has just been put through its paces by Engadget, and their full review of the machine is now available.

From Engadget’s review, the AspireRevo is touted as an affordable nettop that offers great graphics performance, but processing power that needs more oomph. It didn’t have problem playing Blu-ray and pumping out pure surround sound through its HDMI-out, but games don’t really perform as well as you would expect them to due to the severely weak processor. In case you’re still looking for more opinions, we’ll try to get our own review of the AspireRevo up in the next few weeks so watch out for it here.
