Acer has just unveiled Aspire S5, hailing it as the world’s thinnest Ultrabook. In fact, it was so slim, it only measures 15 mm at the maximal point, weighs less than 1.35 kg and is built with a 13.3-inch (34 cm) LCD display. Moreover, it features Acer’s Green Instant On technology for fast boot as well as quick resume, and Acer Always Connect, which allows users to manage their files on their devices at anytime, anywhere — even from sleep.

The Aspire S5 features an Intel  Core processor, SSD storage for speed and increased shock resistance, Dolby® Home Theater v4, long battery life via the PowerSmart battery pack, with a 3X longer life cycle1 than traditional batteries, and is equipped with a chiclet keyboard.

The Aspire S5 is Acer’s first Ultrabook to feature a MagicFlip I/O port panel just below the hinge that enhances the overall slenderness and streamlined form of the S5. When needed, a press of the MagicFlip key opens the panel to reveal a selection of I/O ports, such as HDMI®, USB 3.0 and 20 Gbps Thunderbolt.

Shipment for Aspire S5 will starts in Q2 2012.

While Viliv have a wide range of products, as the company is Korean, most of the products are hard to come by in the US but, that’s set to change from tomorrow. Best Buy will be selling 5 different Viliv products including 3 tablets and 2 netbooks.

The Viliv S5 will be available in two versions and features a 5 inch display. Best Buy will also be stocking the 7 inch tablet, the X70EX.

Netbook wise however, the S7 is available in two models. Unfortunately there’s no word on whether the S10 will make it’s way to Best Buy as well, the company’s 10 inch netbook.

While most people still haven’t even tried running Windows 7 on their precious little netbooks yet, Viliv will boldly showcase their S5 MID during Computex running Microsoft’s up-and-coming next-gen OS. Yes, a full-blown desktop OS on a teensy-weensy mobile Internet device. It’s going to be a sight for sore eyes, I’m sure. Or at least, I hope so. It sounds like a pretty daunting task, if you ask me. And quite an uncomfortable one, at that (running a desktop OS on a MID, that is). That said, I’m aware of the saying, “to each his own.” And I’ll be looking forward to seeing evidence of the Viliv S5 MID’s prowess (or lack thereof) with Windows 7 when it goes on display.
