AAO D250
A little over 2 months ago, Acer’s first 10-inch netbook went on sale on Amazon for $350 USD. This, of course, is the Acer Aspire One D150, which we’ve had the chance to review just recently. Over the weekend, its successor just became available in the Philippines, and I believe it’s going to be available in other markets across Asia (if it isn’t already) as well as Amazon and other online stores that sell netbooks very soon.

In the Philippines, I know of at least one local retailer that is already selling these netbooks, and I was informed that the AAO D150 would be phased out already in favor of this new 10-inch model. What makes the Acer Aspire One D250 so great? Well, for starters, it comes with an Intel Atom N280 processor, which has been proven to be generally faster (though only by a little) than the Atom N270 which has been the norm for netbooks for quite some time now. Besides which, you can consider the Aspire One D250 as just an Acer Aspire One D150 with a better processor and sleeker design. Some of the ports have been rearranged to be positioned evenly between the left and right sides, but the overall look and feel is basically the same.

The price Acer is asking for an Aspire One D250 is the same as the price of an Aspire One D150: 23,995 Pesos or about $507 USD. Right now, I’m a little wary if this model is really worth the upgrade/price increase, but I’ll be spending time with it later today to find out. I’ll let you know what happens then.

Rumors of a subsidized 3G-enabled 10-inch Acer Aspire One going on sale through Costco have been floating around weeks ago. Now, we have even more evidence in support of these rumors. By way of leaked internal documents, it has been revealed that Costco employees are currently being trained for an upcoming launch and the reportedly, D-Day will be on May 11th. That is, when the 10-inch netbook will finally be available, not only on Costco’s kiosks, but also on AT&T’s stores. There’s no word yet on a final price, but it shouldn’t be too far from how much the subsidized 3G-enabled 9-inch model is selling these days, which isn’t much, if you don’t count the obligatory 2-year contract.

HP Mini Vivienne Tam edition netbook
Some ladies in Germany who may still be eyeing the pink and uber-girlified HP Mini Vivienne Tam Edition netbook won’t have to be waiting for a chance any longer. Already widely available in other parts of the world since last year, this feminine netbook is now listed for sale by none other than Amazon Germany. The overall specs are the same, so that means it’s equipped with a 10-inch screen, Intel Atom processor, and a floral decoration on its outer lid. In the U.S., it is available from HP’s web site for $699.99. Amazon Germany is offering it for only 499.23. Euros (equivalent to $677 USD, which makes it at least $20 USD cheaper than in the U.S.). Samsung NC20
The Samsung NC20 is probably one of the most anticipated netbooks that hasn’t been released yet. Well, according to Laptop, it will finally be available in the U.S., albeit exclusive from Newegg, starting on March 16th. It will be available in black, with a 5900 mAh battery for a still unspecified price. You can use Amazon UK’s price for reference, though, and that puts it at about $478 USD. Check out Laptop’s post with the link below for more info and a bit of hands-on first impressions.

As expected, the Dell Inspiron Mini 10 has finally shown up on Dell’s official web site, and it is listed with is official specs along with extra options that will come in a future upgrade. The Dell Inspiron Mini 10 won’t be you run of the mill 10-inch netbook. It sports an HDMI out port, and its 10-inch screen boasts 16:9 aspect ratio. Needless to say, it also has typical netbook features, so it has every right to go against each and every netbook that’s ever been put out to market. It will become available on February 26th, so mark your calendars in case you’re looking to bag this netbook when it comes out.

nc20
The long-awaited 12-inch Samsung NC20 has just gone up for pre-order on Amazon UK, and anyone living in or near the UK can take advantage of this sale now. In case you’ve forgotten, the NC20 is a follow-up to the 10-inch NC10, and features Via’s Nano processor, first and foremost, instead of an Intel Atom like most other netbooks available in the market today. It will also probably run Windows 7 easily, though it would be better to confirm it when the unit actually ships. Its price is a bit steep at around $489 USD, but it should be well worth the money, especially when it’s bundled with a standard 6-cell battery.

samsung-nc10-special-edition
There’s a new and improved version of the Samsung NC10 available for pre-order on Amazon, and it sports a few minor improvements over the original that some users may see as enough to justify its $499 price. The new, special edition Samsung NC10, with product code 11PBK, touts a larger touchpad than the old NC10, a glossy screen, and a higher-capacity 6-cell battery for up to 9.4 hours of computing power. Amazon has this product exclusively, and they are shipping it for free for those who pre-order from its product page. If you’ve got money saved up to buy a netbook and still haven’t decided which on to get at this point, this one will be a great choice. See the Amazon link below for more details:

Amazon recognizes that netbooks are one of their best-selling products, and as such they have opened up a completely new mini-site that’s dedicated to selling one of these little things. Listed there are the best-selling netbooks, their current prices and where they will be shipped from. If you want a sure and safe place to get your next netbook, this could very well be it. The Samsung NC10 might be getting a new paint job, but let’s not forget that an entirely new netbook will soon be coming to a computer store near you. The one I’m talking about is the Samsung NC20, which as you might have guesses is the proper successor of the earlier mentioned netbook. Reportedly, it is already available in places like Germany and Ukraine, costing about 499 Euros or $659 USD. Of course it is at least $100 more expensive than the Samsung NC10, but that’s primarily because it has a bigger screen, among other things. The earlier reported release date of this netbook is supposed to be on February, but it doesn’t hurt that it’s been made available early, at least in some places.

eee-box-b206-italy
The Asus Eee Box B206 is reportedly on the way to Italy this month, and is going to cost just around 379 Euros or about $492 USD. It may not be as cheap as its netbook counterparts, but this mini desktop replacement comes with an ATI Radeon HD 3400 graphics and an HDMI port. Its spec sheet also puts Bluetooth as among its list of features, which is another welcome addition especially for those who want to rid their desktops of wires. There’s no info on when and where exactly in Italy this will start shipping, but we’ll be sure to update you with that in a future post.
